Reliable sources reveal that choreographer Shiamak Davar has approached Hollywood star couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones to choreograph a sequence in their film Racing the Monsoon. The film is a thriller involving a diamond robbery and will be shot partly in India. The source adds, “Shiamak has approached Michael for the film. He really wants to do it.”
When contacted Shiamak said, “I met Michael and Catherine in Davos. I had a word with both of them. They congratulated me for my performance and we spent quite sometime together. I would really like to do the film. But as of now I don’t know how I will feature in it. I don’t know what I will choreograph since it’s a Hollywood film. When I met them I did not discuss their project.”
Interestingly, Michael will be shooting the train robbery sequences on the Palace of Wheels, the luxury train that departs from New Delhi and during its eight day journey travels around Rajasthan. It stops in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Agra.
“Michael wants the film to look grand. He is currently seeking permission with the railways to shoot on the Palace on Wheels,” an insider says. Michael has also visited Rajasthan to get a first hand feel about the shooting locations. Racing the Monsoon will be shot extensively across Rajasthan and some portions of the film will also be shot in Kolkata and Delhi. The six-month schedule is expected to begin by December this year or early 2009. As is now known, Michael will be in India along with his star wife Catherine for the entire shooting schedule. Matt Damon, who also stars in the film, will also be in the country.
Racing the Monsoon will see Michael playing a double role. The film will be co-financed by Michael’s company Further Films and Percept Picture Company. It will be directed by Steve Carr. Insiders say that art director Nitin Desai and Alan Amin are in talks with Percept regarding their inclusion in the project. When contacted Shailendra Singh of Percept said, “Many technicians, almost 600, will be a part of this film. It is a great exposure for them. Huge doors will open for them.”
