Janaradhan Wishvanbhar Rane (Paresh Rawal), a widower, spends his life bringing up his two children Chirag (Manoj Joshi) and Gaurav (Akshaye Khanna). Now that the two have grown up, Gaurav turns things around and takes responsibility of his father.
Though he is the younger son, Gaurav treats his father like a son. he guards Janaradhan like a mother hen—he shouts, threatens, fights and even locks up his father occasionally so that his prankster best friend Madhav Mathur (Om Puri), a divorcee desperate to get married, does not spoil him. The two also manage the household chores and their business.
Madhav and Janaradhan are perpetually in search of a bride for Madhav. And, expectedly, they land in trouble often and Gaurav is forced to bail them out and face the embarrassment.
Meanwhile, Gaurav starts getting prank calls from a girl who turns out to be his old college friend Sheekha Kapoor (Genelia D’Souza). Sheekha is staying with her guardian Anuradha (Shobana), Janaradhan’s first love.
Gaurav and Sheekha notice a change in Janaradhan and Anuradha’s behaviour when they come face to face after many years. They soon discover their past relationship. Now Gaurav wants his father to marry his first love.
Gaurav and Sheekha embark upon a rib-tickling journey to arrange his father’s love marriage and, in the process, find soul mates in each other.
