After JAANE TU...euphoria, a dull weekend ahead

While JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA has emerged a major success, it would be a speed breaker ahead for the new releases with the coming weekend looking all set to be a dull affair. The three films which release on the coming Friday are MEHBOOBA, MUKHBIIR and GOOD LUCK.

Though at least MEHBOOBA may have managed to rake in some moolah due to the presence of Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan in the film, the other two releases have never shown any promise whatsoever.

However, as is the current scenario, none of the three films stand much chance at the box office courtesy huge turnouts that are being witnessed for JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA even on the weekdays. Normally, the biggest of films fall over the weekdays but the controlled release strategy applied by Aamir Khan has paid due to which the film has been sustaining itself quite well.

This translates into the fact that when the film enters it's second weekend, it would continue to be hot favorite amongst the audience. What happens to the three new releases in the meanwhile? Well, frankly they do not stand a chance because while GOOD LUCK appears to be a really sub-standard product, as demonstrated through its poor quality promos, MUKHBIIR may just have been interesting had it released with the right hype.

MEHBOOBA does look lavish but all said and done; it is only the producer who is pumping money into the project with none of the stars associated with the film giving even a single newsbyte to the media. Except for the promotion of song and dance sequences, there is nothing else which has been talked about MEHBOOBA, hence re-emphasizing its status as an old product in which no one is interested any more.

So while audiences have JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA giving them company all over again over the coming weekend, the one to follow would have two diverse outings in the form of KISMAT KONNECTION and CONTRACT. Well, Bollywood buffs certainly don't seem to be complaining!
