Sanjay Gadhvi to hold screening of 'Kidnap'

Mumbai: Sanjay Gandhvi, who's ready with his latest release "Kidnap", might have parted ways with Yash Raj Films after the successful "Dhoom" series, but the director says he owes it all to the Chopras, for whom he will hold a special screening of his new film.

Gandhvi is upbeat about the Imran Khan starrer "Kidnap" and wants to show the film to his mentor Aditya Chopra.

"After the screening for the cast and crew I'll hold a special show at Yash Raj Studios for Yashji and Adi. And as a sign of respect I also gave the first CD to them. I am what I am because of them. I go to the Yash Raj office every fortnight to have lunch and hang around. They send me CDs of all their films. I'm in touch with Uday and Aditya," Gadhvi told IANS.

Releasing Thursday, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba.

Gadhvi's "Kidnap" will clash with Abhishek Bachchan's "Drona", an actor who many feel got a raw deal in "Dhoom 2". Much water has, however, passed under the box office bridge since then and Gandhvi feels that there is room enough during the festive season for two biggies at the box office.

"We have a four-day weekend starting with Thursday when we're both releasing. And then they're two completely different kinds of films. Earlier, we've had two films on the same day doing well -- 'Gadar - Ek Prem Katha' and 'Lagaan', for example. Besides it's Eid. Everyone releases films on Friday. We're releasing on dry day. We were supposed to release in August but were pushed forward," Gadhvi said.

Minissha was cast in Yash Raj's "Bachna Ae Haseeno" after she started shooting for Gadhvi's "Kidnap".

"I was at Yash Raj's office once. And Adi asked me how she was. The next thing I knew she was cast in a Yash Raj film," said Gadhvi.

After the release of "Kidnap", Gadhvi intends to take a break. "I feel burnt out. I haven't had a break in 19 years. I live with my parents. I've a wife and kids. The children are not brats, fortunately."

Gadhvi's father is a Gujarati filmmaker.

"He has made two Gujarati films both with music by Kalyanji-Anandji. I grew up in their house with Kalyanji bhai's son Viju Shah. We Gadhvis are a community of storytellers. I hope I've done a good job of it in 'Kidnap'."

Aamir Khan watches Kidnap

aamir_01

The official trials of the keenly awaited Kidnap for distinguished industry folk have started in Mumbai. Most of them are being held at Yash Raj Studios including one held on Thursday evening.

However, one megastar who saw Kidnap before anybody else was Aamir Khan. Aamir came down especially to watch the film at director Sanjay Gadhvi's Lokhandwala home some time back.

Confirms Gadhvi, ''Yes, Aamir saw Kidnap. I invited him to watch it because he knows what is good cinema. He is a well-wisher. He saw the final cut with rough music and without sound effects or dubbing and absolutely loved it.''

It follows that Aamir's other motivation to watch Kidnap was his pet nephew Imran Khan whom he launched in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. After the screening, Aamir texted Imran about his performance to praise him in his second feature.

Remarks Imran, ''Yes, mamu has seen Kidnap. He messaged to say that he liked the film and that I had done a great job. It was a major compliment for me because after Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, he just said, not bad!''

Kidnap is in cinemas worldwide on Wednesday 1st October. It is an Indian Films - Studio 18 release.

Victoria wears socks and gloves to bed!

LONDON: Former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham says she wears socks and gloves to bed to ensure that her skin looks young.

Thesun.co.uk reports Victoria, 34,as saying: "I put really thick foot lotion on with socks before I go to sleep. I also use thick hand cream with gloves at the same time. David (Beckham) must think Im loony, because I get into bed with gloves and socks on."

She also revealed other strange ways of taking care of her eyebrows.

She said: "I spend more time on them than I used to. I always thought, Oh, theyre just brows. But now I pay attention to them. I brush them and Im careful not to over-pluck."

SRK looks Lucky

In his second Rab De... look, Shah Rukh [Images] looks trendier, with gelled hair, T-shirt and sunglasses -- much like Palekar's Laxman Prasad Dasharath Prasad Sharma aka Lucky in Golmaal.

Ram Prasad was forced to don two looks in order to hold on to his job under Utpal Dutt. So what is SRK's [Images] story?

Incidentally, SRK and Palekar have worked together in Paheli [Images], which saw Khan in a double role.

So will we get a chance to watch Golmaal again, starring SRK? Let's wait and watch.

Heroes brings together Sunny and Bobby again as Brothers

After Apne, Sunny and Bobby are back as brothers in Samir Karnik's Heroes Apart from Metro, no episodic film has done well in India.

From the sensitive Life Mein Kabhi Kabhie to the hard-hitting Darna Zaroori Hai to the intruigingly under-rated Salaam-e-Ishq (which became 'slam'-e-ishq in the hands of cynical critics) films telling various segmented stories in one assorted bouquet have crashed unceremoniously, and never mind if Crash, the film that triggered off the episodic wave in Hollywood.

Samir Karnik took off on a Bharat Yatra involving 3 episodes and one on-going episodic theme featuring Sohail Khan and Vatsal Seth which binds all the episodes together.

While one episode features Salman Khan and Preity Zinta, another brings together the odd pair of Mithun Chakbraborty and Dino Morea.

But it's the third episode that's been kept under wraps.

It brings together the real-life brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol once again after Heroes. Karnik's proximity to Bobby is well know. He has worked with him in two films so far.

But this is his first film with Sunny, and therefore critical.

Preity Zinta who plays a very unusual role in the film is all for it. "You watch, Heroes will change the course of episodic films. I've just twenty minutes of playing time with Salman. But whatever we have, we had a blast shooting it."

Minissha got into Yash Raj Films because of me

When Sanjay Gadhvi left his Dhoom and Yashraj days behind little did he know that one day he would be back in the reckoning with a film that would be vying with the biggest Abhishek Bachchan vehicle ever.

At the time when Dhoom 2 had released many of those close to Abhishek including filmmakers who were that time working with Abhishek or planning projects with him, felt Abhishek had been given a raw deal in Dhoom 2.

One of them had said, " The film was designed as a Hrithik Roshan vehicle. Abhishek did it only because of his relations with the Chopras and because he didn't want to break the chain of the sequel."

Now when much water has flown under he boxoffice bridge Gadhvi has pitched his Kidnap right next to Abhishek's Drona.

Gadhvi thinks there's room for both the biggies at the boxoffice. "We have a four-day weekend starting with Thursday 2 October when we're both releasing.

And then they're two completely different kinds of films. Earlier we've had two films on the same day doing well. Gaddar and Lagaan, for example. Besides it's Eid and a festive time. Everyone releases films on Friday.

We're releasing on Dry Day. We were supposed to release in August but were pushed forward."

But before that Gadhvi wants to show the film to his mentor Aditya Chopra.

"After the screening for the cast and crew I'll hold a special show at Yashraj Studios for Yashji and Adi. And as a sign of respect I also gave the first CD to them. I am what I am because of them.

Adi gave me the title and the script right for Kidnap. I go to the Yashraj office every fortnight have lunch and hand around. They send me CDs of all their films. I'm in touch with Uday and Aditya."

In fact Minissha Lamba was cast in Yashraj's Bachna Ae Haseenon after she started shooting for Gadhvi's Kidnap. "I was at Yashraj's office once. And Adi asked me how she was. The next thing I knew she was cast in a Yashraj film."

After the release of Kidnap Gadhvi intends to take a break."I feel burnt out. I haven't had a break in 19 years. I live with my parents. I've a wife and kids. The children are not brats, fortunately."

Gadhvi's dad is a Gujarati filmmaker. "He has made two Gujarati films both with music by Kalyanji-Anandji. I grew up in their house with Kalyanjibhai's son Viju Shah. We Gadhvis are community of storytellers. I hope I've done a good job of it I Kidnap."

Imran jumps from 12th floor angers Sanju

This Eid's most keenly awaited film Kidnap sees the latest teen sensation Imran Khan in a radically different avatar.

From essaying a cute, lovable boy-next-door in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na to a new-age angry young man, Imran has grown by leaps and bounds. Kidnap sees him perform some death-defying stunts, which even had veteran Sanjay Dutt concerned for his safety and well-being.

Leaving the crew of the film astonished, Imran underwent a 3 week training by the UK-based action director Dane and did all the Parkour himself.

The chase scene between Imran's and Sanjay Dutt's characters involves a heavy dose of stunning Parkour and is among the high points of the film. The scene required Imran to jump from a 16-storey building, which he did without any support!

Imran's trainer, Dane, was supposed to perform the stunt, but suffered a severe fall from the 12th floor in one of the takes leading to a subsequent black-out. Dane was rushed to the hospital but Imran stayed back at the location and wrapped the stunt himself.

While director Sanjay Gadhvi could not dissuade the young actor from this act of sheer dare-devilry, Sanjay Dutt who was on location, and is incredibly protective about Imran, rebuked him for doing his own stunts at this age when he had a long career ahead of him.

Confirms Imran, "I got into a lot of trouble that day. Sanju pulled me up and called Aamir mamu to tell him about what I had done!"

Junoon made me a face

Harshdeep Kaur from Sufi Ke Sultan was crowned the winner of NDTV Imagine's Lux Junoon Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka at its grand finale last weekend.

The episode featured a spectacular battle between the three finalists: Abhas Joshi (Bollywood Ke Badshaah), Malini Awasthi (Maati Ke Lal) and Harshdeep. Harshdeep left everyone spellbound with her matchless performance that got the maximum number of viewer votes.

A graduate in Mass Communication, this 21-year-old playback singer had also won the MTV video GAGA contest 2001, at the young age of 14. She is also the voice behind the beautiful Sikh prayer Ikon kai Onkaar in the blockbuster, Rang De Basanti [Images].

Harshdeep talks to Rajul Hegde about her win.

How was the experience?

It has been a fantastic journey. In the beginning, we were just enjoying the activities. But it got tough towards the end, and we got more serious. The judges were critical of my singing but the public always supported me.

So you think you won only because of public voting?

Yes. I have nothing against the judges. I have learnt a lot from them. I am thankful to them because their comments helped me improve. The public must have voted for me because I always experimented. We hear Hindi songs everyday and they become repetitive.

When I was offered this show, the first thing that came to my mind was I should sing Sufi because I am a big fan of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. My voice suits Sufi music and I had never tried this before.

Did you think you would win when you entered this show?

I was confident about winning the show and today, I am very happy that my hard work has work paid off.

Who has been your inspiration?

A R Rahman! He is my idol and has inspired me.

How has Junoon helped your career?

Junoon was an important platform for me, as it gave me recognition. I have sung many songs as a playback singer, but this show has made me a face. Today, people not only know me for my voice, but also recognise me by face. That is good.

Your most memorable moment on the show?

When my mentor Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was asked to save one singer, and he chose me. I thank him for supporting and believing in me. The second time was when we had to perform in front of Amitabh [Images] and Abhishek Bachahan at the grand finale.

Junoon has not fared as well as the other musical reality shows.

I agree. But it did well with a certain set of audience. We got good feedback from the viewers.

What next?

I will cut a Sufi album very soon.

Also, I am getting acting offers in films, and I am considering that. I have sung the title song for Himesh Reshammiya's [Images] Karzzzz and two songs for Kajraare. I am getting offers for musicals.

Is SRK doing an Amol Palekar?

Is Shah Rukh Khan [Images] acting in a remake of Amol Palekar's lovable film, Golmaal?

Yash Raj Films always holds their films close to their heart, and the stories closer still until the movie releases. Keeping with tradition, the story of Aditya Chopra's [Images] Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is top secret.

What struck us was how similar SRK's [Images] looks in the film were to Palekar's in Golmaal.

For those who have seen the 1970s laugh riot, SRK seems to look like the simple Ram Prasad Dasharath Prasad Sharma, in his traditional kurta pyjama and moustache.

In the picture: SRK shoots for Rab Ne... in Amritsar [Images], Punjab (left) and Amol Palekar as Ram Prasad in Golmaal.

Jennifer Hudson had to dig out engagement ring

London: Singer-actress Jennifer Hudson got the "biggest surprise" of her life recently when boyfriend David Otunga asked her to be his wife at a beach on her 27th birthday.

He gave her a shovel to dig out the engagement ring. They got engaged on Sep 12. Contactmusic.com reports her as saying: "It was a big deal. I got a beautiful ring and I got him. I had no clue at all. We went to the beach during the day and he blindfolded me and he gave me a purple shovel, because purple is my favourite colour... And I had to dig. I ended up digging through all this sand.

"When I found it, it was like a bunch of beautiful cards - one related to the other, and the last one said, Look around, take the moment in, turn around and I have a gift for you ." Hudson showed off the ring on a TV show recently and called her to be husband "a beautiful guy" and boasted, "He is an attorney, he went to Harvard Law School."

Rapper Busta Rhymes keeps London concert date

American rapper Busta Rhymes has performed at a charity concert after overcoming his problems with British immigration.

Rhymes—whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr—performed at London's Royal Albert Hall on Friday night after winning a court order allowing him to stay in the country.

High Court judge Nicholas Stadlen gave the go-ahead, saying he did not want to disappoint 4,000 young people who won their tickets by performing community work.

Immigration officials stopped Rhymes on Thursday at London City Airport, with his promoters saying they cited previous legal trouble in the United States. In March a New York judge sentenced Rhymes to three years' probation for assaulting his former driver and a fan.

3 IDIOTS: Kareena's bridal look revealed!

Just a few days back we had told you about Kareena Kapoor's on–screen wedding to Sharman Joshi in the Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla, for an important sequence from Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming 3 IDIOTS. After that Kareena's 'bidaai' ceremony took place!

In reality, Kareena and Saif Ali Khan have already left Shimla (as we had informed), but the shooting of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film continues in the nearby Chail, amongst the beautiful thickly wooded forest reserve.

Javed 'eggjactly' Jaffery has now joined Boman Irani, Sharman Joshi and Mona Singh, shooting for about a dozen comic scenes. And before we leave here is an exclusive first look at Kareena Kapoor, decked up in all her ethnic bridal finery!

The mystery behind Imran's tattoo in KIDNAP!

Imran Khan's tattoo at the back of his neck in the trailer of KIDNAP has caught much female attention. The trailer gives a clear view of the new Khan's tattoo as he turns around and menacingly informs Sanjay Dutt that he had kidnapped his daughter.

There was news that Imran had the tattoo done especially for KIDNAP in keeping with his tough and rugged look in the film. Turns out that that isn't true after all!

Not many know that the tattoo is a permanent one, which he had done from a guy in Mumbai's Colaba area many years back when tattoo parlours weren't around.

Laughs Imran, ''It's one of those things I had done when I was seventeen. It's permanent. We had to hide it in JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA as it wasn't in keeping with my character. But my director (Sanjay Gadhvi) felt it went well with the tone of Kabir in KIDNAP and decided to show it!''

The clarification should put the mystery behind Imran's tattoo to rest!

KIDNAP, the big Id attraction, is out in cinemas on Wednesday 1st October. It is an Indian Films – Studio 18 release worldwide.

Shama zips Bhajji's mouth!

While Sushmita Sen, the fascinating judge of the latest reality dance show 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' on Colors is all praise for the sensuous Shama Sikander, the newbie is in no mood to take things lying down from competitor Harbhajan Singh aka Bhajji.

"Shama, you are wonderful with expressions and one of the most fabulous dancers I've ever seen," remarked an impressed Sush. The glamour queen along with co–judge Wasim Akram even gave great marks to the Vinod Kambli–Shama Sikander team. But when the audience failed them with low marks, Shama was quick to voice her displeasure, saying the audience could be more "discerning". This ruffled staunch competitor Bhajji who felt her remarks were directed at him.

What followed was a war of words. Bhajji criticised Shama saying she was "insensitive towards competitors and was just shooting her mouth off". His curt comment hurt the girl more, who retaliated, "I don't want to engage in a battle of wits. This is a dance competition so let's stick to great dancing, instead of one–upmanship." Even her partner Kambli came to her rescue by seconding her opinion.

Wonder how the over–talkative Bhajji would have felt. Not too nice. Because for a change, he did not respond, preferring to shut his famous mouth.

My Delhi trip would have affected security: Abhishek

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, who cancelled his Delhi trip on Sunday to promote Drona after Saturday's blast in the capital, says it was a precautionary measure and his presence would have lead to more pressure on security personnel.

"I'd like to express my solidarity with the people of Delhi. We must continue to stand up against acts of terrorism. We were scheduled to go to Delhi to celebrate the launch of Drona merchandise in the Spice Mall and Big Bazaar.

"But my being in Delhi and interacting with huge crowds would create an additional pressure on the security arrangements and the administration. So I have cancelled our promotional events in Delhi on Sunday," Abhishek said .

"It would also have been insensitive towards the families who have lost loved ones. So we've cancelled the celebrations. People of Delhi - be strong. We are with you," added the actor.

"Drona", a sci-fi mythological film, also stars Priyanka Chopra and Kay Kay Menon and is set for an October 2 release.

Shah Rukh tells youth to shun terrorism

MUMBAI: After recent terror attacks across the country, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has appealed to the youth to shun terrorism and violence.

The actor was speaking at a Davat-e-Sehri , a function organised prior to the fast observed during Roza , held by Mumbai Congress President Kripashankar Singh in the early hours of Sunday.

Shah Rukh also appealed to people to mantain communal harmony.

The fact that Singh has been organising a Davat-e-Sehri proved that Islam and Hinduism preach brotherhood and peace," the actor said.

"Ramzan is a holy month and God answers our special prayers during this period. The 27th day of Roza is a day of piety," Shah Rukh said.

The actor said he was not able to observe Roza for the entire month of Ramzan.

"I could manage only seven days. It was not possible due to my erratic work schedule," Shah Rukh said.

Singh, who is also an MLA from suburban Santacruz, said he had been organising Sehris for the last seven years because he does not get time to participate in iftaars as part of the community gathering.

Heather Locklear arrested on DUI count

Heather Locklear was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the upscale Santa Barbara area, authorities said on Sunday.

Locklear, 47, was pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer on Saturday afternoon after a resident reported seeing the actress leaving a parking lot and "driving erratically," patrol spokesman Tom Marshall said.

The officer noticed Locklear's car parked on a state highway and blocking a lane in Montecito, a wealthy community about 90 miles northwest of Los Angeles. She was believed to be alone in the car, Marshall said.

"In talking with her, [the officer] determines that she seems to be under the influence of something," Marshall said.

Locklear was taken to the police station, where she was tested for alcohol and drugs. She was booked at 7 p.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication. She was later released from custody.

Calls to Locklear's publicists were not immediately returned.

Locklear's TV credits include T J Hooker, Dynasty, Melrose Place and Spin City, and her film roles include The Perfect Man and Uptown Girls.

Locklear checked into a medical clinic in June to seek treatment for anxiety and depression.

Last year, she got a divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora after 11 years of marriage. They have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth.

Project Runway in LA stalled by NY court ruling

The reality fashion show Project Runway will not be able to strut its stuff on the Lifetime TV channel, a judge ruled on Friday.

A preliminary injunction was ordered by New York Supreme Court Justice Richard B. Lowe in a lawsuit filed by NBC Universal against the Weinstein Co., which produces the hit reality series hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum.

NBC Universal had aired the series on its Bravo channel. It sued Weinstein after the production company made a reported $150 million deal with Lifetime for the show.

The temporary injunction bars Weinstein from taking Project Runway or any spinoff to Lifetime and contended that evidence showed that Weinstein violated NBC's "right of first refusal" for the show.

Weinstein Co. said in a statement that it intended to appeal the decision, which was applauded by NBC Universal.

Lifetime said it was disappointed with the ruling and that it will "pursue all measures" to uphold its agreement with Weinstein for the show's sixth season.

Also part of the judge's ruling, Lifetime and Weinstein cannot promote, market or air Project Runway.

NBC was ordered to put up a $20 million bond; Weinstein had asked the court to set a $200 million bond, which it said was the value of its deal with Lifetime.

In its lawsuit, NBC alleged that Weinstein moved Project Runway because NBC balked at the attempt to bundle the series with other Weinstein properties that NBC wasn't interested in.

Weinstein said that there was no right of first refusal in the contract and that NBC Universal was offered the deal and was outbid.

The parties were ordered to return to court Oct. 15.

Project Runway, now in production in Los Angeles, was expected to start airing in January on Lifetime.

'Cinema wouldn't have been the same if he hadn't come along,' Telegraph quoted double Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey [Images], as saying.

'It was a terrific body of work which continued right into the latter part of his life. If anyone asks about the craft of cinema acting all you have to say is -- go get Cool Hand Luke, go get The Hustler, go get Hud,' he added.

Newman, who dominated the swinging sixties with his striking good looks and his rebellious personality, was honoured with a third Oscar in 1993 for his humanitarian endeavours.

As of early 2006, his franchise had made more than 108 million pounds in donation.

Saif Ali Khan facing arrest for assault

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan found himself in trouble on Monday after the Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a case against him and four others of a film unit for allegedly assaulting a photojournalist.

Khan and members of the unit of his latest film Three Idiots were booked for assault, intimidation and inciting violence.

GRP officials said the move followed a complaint by a photojournalist from a Hindi newspaper who said he had been beaten up by the film unit staff after being incited by Khan.

The photographer was taking pictures of Khan at the railway station here on Sunday. The star objected and told private security and film production unit associates to tackle the photojournalist following which he was allegedly thrashed.

"We will arrest him soon," GRP inspector general G.J.S. Grewal said here.

The registration of the case follows protests by mediapersons against Khan and others.

I have no time for love: Genelia

She’s come a long way but she still takes time out for a friendly game of soccer at D’Monte Park on Turner Road, Bandra, when she gets the time.

One hit film down and with another on the floor, Genelia D’Souza is currently busy shooting It’s My Life opposite Harman Baweja.

Even as she gets into gear for the shoot, makeup minions and wardrobe wizards buzz in and out of the scene. A pair of hands add blush to her cheeks, then her eyeliner is delicately touched up. All under the watchful gaze of her mother. That done, she settles down for a chat. “I can’t complain about anything so far. Things have been good. Touchwood, things seem to be going good. These first few steps I am taking in Bollywood are crucial ones. But, God willing...” she trails off.

As a newcomer into the big bad Bollywood industry, has she encountered any unpleasantness so far? “I think the industry will treat you as you want to be treated. And there are bad people in every industry. It’s not just Bollywood. But honestly, it’s been great so far. And the unit I’m working in is great; it’s a team that works together well. My mother is protective of me. I think it’s a great family feeling that we work together.”

Does she feel any pressure about having to build up on the positive momentum that started with Jaane Tu...? “Not really. There’s no pressure, but yes, I do want to make the right choices and I think I am. Working with first Imran and now Harman has a very positive vibe to it. We’re all new into this scene.” And any reflections on this onscreen character? “Both the characters I play are young characters. Aditi from Jaane Tu.. was a bit more brash and in-your-face. An absolute girl who follows her heart. My character from It’s My Life is a bit more earthy. She seems like a person who is more in touch with herself and very pure.”

And has Cupid’s arrow struck this “sorted out” Leo? “I’ve got no time for love. Doesn’t that sound cliched? Ha-ha... But really, I’m not anti-romance or anything but I really cannot be getting into any relationships now,” she says.

So, all you boys, beware, for her mom’s listening!

Now Sanjay Dutt wants to be Singh

Sanjay Dutt After Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt will be the latest Singh to join the bandwagon... but with a difference!

Dutt’s forthcoming film Chatur Singh - Two Star has the actor play an interesting character, who is lesser known for comedy films. The film promises to be a laugh riot and will have Dutt playing a two star police inspector. His two stars signify his rank in the police force. The director Ajay Chandok explains that Sanju has never looked so funny before.

He reveals, “Sanjay gave a lot of suggestions while designing the look. We wanted Chatur Singh to look funny so we decided to experiment with his look. According to his suggestion we called a well known Hollywood wig specialist and makeup artist Mike Stringer. He designed a wig. Apart from that, Sanju sports a moustache which makes him look funnier. His clothes and body language adds fun to his character.”

Chatur Singh - Two Star also stars Amisha Patel, Suresh Menon, Anupam Kher and Satish Kaushik in some interesting characters.

How Abhi and Ash learned to fight...

While Aishwarya Bachchan was seen handling a sword in The Last Legion and Jodhaa Akhbar, hubby Abhishek will be seen doing the same in Drona.

What’s interesting is that both were taught the art by the same person. Since the sword fighting sequences were very crucial for the story, director Goldie Behl decided to get a professional to train Abhishek and Kay Kay Menon. He approached Richard Ryan, a master in sword fighting.

When Richard met Abhishek on the sets of Drona for the first time, he was pleasantly surprised to learn that Abhishek was at that point all set to marry Ash. So, now we know who taught them to fight!

Hello needed a star like Salman: Atul Agnihotri

salman_02Mumbai: Actor-turned-director Atul Agnihotri says he cast brother-in-law Salman Khan in his forthcoming film "Hello" not to increase its commercial value, but because the character in the movie demanded a star like him.

Salman plays himself, a superstar, in the film that is based on the acclaimed book "One Night At The Call Centre" by Chetan Bhagat.

"Salman plays Chetan Bhagat's character in the film. But we have shown him as Salman - the film star - unlike the book which portrayed Chetan Bhagat (the narrator) as a writer," Atul told IANS.

"I have not cast Salman because of commercial reasons or being a relative, but it was important for the role to have an actor who has a star status," said Atul.

"Hello" is Atul's second film as director after "Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha", which released in 2004. "Hello" is slated to hit theatres Oct 10.

Though Salman does not play the lead role, he has an important role in the movie as the story begins and ends with him.

And Salman Khan fans will not be disappointed as they will get to see enough of their superstar. The two-hour movie features Salman for at least 25 minutes, said Atul.

Besides Salman, the film boasts of a large star cast including Katrina Kaif, Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan, Isha Koppikar, Gul Panag, Amrita Arora and Arbaaz Khan.

Katrina plays a fellow traveller who narrates the whole story to Salman.

"It is through them that the whole story unfolds and they play a pivotal part in the film," said Atul.

The director maintained that he had not deviated much from the novel, except for taking a few cinematic liberties.

He explained that while books need more time to introduce characters as it has only words to communicate, cinema is different, being an audio visual medium presentation.

The film revolves around a group of call centre workers who receive a call from god.

Atul said it took them nine days to film the scene where god appears as it needed special treatment.

"It is always difficult to shoot at night, but the whole scene was shot in the night, which made things difficult for us."

Extra efforts went into making the scene really special.

"Lightning and thunder needed to be created. Besides, special effects were also used for the scene," said Atul, who debuted as an actor in Mahesh Bhatt's "Sir" in 1993.

Atul said he has no plans to return to the big screen as an actor.

"I had always planned to be a director and had assisted Pankaj Parasher for five years. In between, I went into acting and had a bad experience. Now I want to concentrate on direction as this was always my first choice."

Nicole makes public appearance with daughter

Aussie actress Nicole Kidman made her public appearance with daughter Sunday Rose in London.

Kidman was photographed cradling her daughter close to her chest, as she left the famous Abbey Road Studios, letting the world catch a glimpse of the little baby’s strawberry-blonde hair.

In the picture taken, Sunday Rose could be seen dressed in a pink dress with white socks, oblivious to the photographers clicking away as she slept peacefully in her loving mum''s arms.

Ever since she was born, on July 7 in Nashville, the public has only seen pictures of her wrapped in a papoose.

“She''s like a doll - a little, little thing,” News.com.au quoted 41-year-old Kidman as saying of her first biological child. Even her dad Keith Urban, 40, could not stop showing his adoration for her. “We''re still experiencing the pure bliss of welcoming her into our lives,” he said.

But where a proper public photograph is concerned, Kidman and Urban have refused million-dollar offers for shots of Sunday Rose, who has been named after painter Sidney Nolan''s muse Sunday Reed.

Sonam Kapoor is taking life slowly

Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor is taking life slowly after her first films release in 2007. Its been more than a year since people saw the Saawariya girl on screen.

While contemporaries such as Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have raced ahead with other films, doesnt she think there has been a time lag between her first movie and Dilli 6 which is set to release early next year? She says, "I have just started my career and I think its absolutely all right if I am doing my second film in a years time. So what if my contemporaries have done a film before me?"

Denying that her role in Saawariya will only typecast her in the directorss eyes, she says, "You cant say a person has been typecast just after doing one film. I am really enjoying my role in Dilli 6 because its very different from what I played in my earlier film."

Sonam is reluctant to talk about her ex-beau Ranbir Kapoor. She quips, "He already has a girlfriend and I wouldnt want to interfere between the two. Ranbir has always been a very good friend of mine and we have never stopped talking," she says. Sonam denies regarding Deepika as competition. "She is a lovely girl and one of my best friend's girlfriend. Why should I take her as a competitor? " she remarks.

Sonam admits that it was very exciting to walk the ramp for the India Couture Week recently. "I just walked the ramp for designer Anamika Khanna. It was good fun being a model," she says.

Sonam had assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the making of Black. So will she be donning the directors hat any time in the future? "I dont like to think too much about the future because I get scared. I like to take one day at a time. At the moment I am happy being an actor. But I like to keep my options open. You never know if someday I may direct a film of my own," she says.

Sikhs as central characters, new Bollywood formula

Chandigarh: Turbaned Sikhs as central characters seem to the flavour of Bollywood films these days.

After Akshay Kumar donned the role of a Sikh in Singh is Kinng , which has done reasonably well at the box office, it's now the turn of Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan, who will be seen in turbans. Salman is playing the role of a Sikh soldier in the upcoming multi starrer film Heroes while Saif Ali Khan is busy shooting in Patiala for Chhote Nawab opposite Deepika Padukone.

Actor Mangal Dhillon says Sikhs should be proud of these characters. Akshay did very well in Singh is Kinng and that seems to have prompted filmmakers to have their main characters as Sikhs. The positive thing about this trend is that turbaned Sikhs with beard are being cast as central characters and all Sikhs should be proud of this, says Dhillon, who has acted in many Bollywood films and television soaps. It is also a sharp contrast from the past when Sikhs were often portrayed as clowns, jokers or alcoholics.

It clicked for Sunny Deol in films like Gadar Ek Prem Katha and Jo Bole So Nihaal and it has been the case again in Singh is Kinng . And so other top actors are hoping their films in this avatar will be success B says. In Heroes Salman also grew his beard to sport a real look. His respect for the turban made him stay from cigarettes, says Dhillon.

Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds marry in Canada

Los Angeles: Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds did a little rushing into it after all.

The couple married this weekend, according to publicist Meredith O'Sullivan. She did not provide details.

Us Weekly reported on its Web site Sunday that the small wedding took place at a resort outside Vancouver, British Columbia. Guests included Scarlett's mother, Melanie Sloan, and her brother, Adrian Johansson, the magazine said.

The couple announced their engagement in May.

"We're just enjoying our time," the actress said last month. "We're just recently — very recently — engaged. So, you know, we're just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it's a good time and we're just ... enjoying our time to be young and engaged.

"I mean, I'm 23. There's no reason to rush into it. Everything feels very natural and relaxed."

Johansson most recently starred in the Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Reynolds starred on the TV show Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place and the romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe.

Shahrukh and Amitabh to do cameos together

The stories of the much-written-about cold war between Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan can rest for a while.

For Amitabh and Shahrukh, two of the biggest stars of Hindi film industry, are set to play cameos in Vivek Sharma's forthcoming film Kal Kisne Dekha .

SRK was earlier seen in a special appearance in Vivek's first film Bhoothnath starring the Big B. ‘Kal Kisne Dekha’ will introduce Jacky Bhagnani (son of producer Vashu Bhagnani ) and Vaishali Desai (grand daughter of Manmohan Desai ).

The film has 15 stars playing cameo roles including Juhi Chawla and Rishi Kapoor . Vivek declined to divulge any details about the film and whether Big B and SRK would share the screen space. In 'Bhootnath', they were together in just one or two scenes.

The two have previously acted in Yash Chopra’s film Mohabbatein and Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham .

There are rumours that Yash Chopra plans to bring SRK and Big B together in full-fledged roles once again in his comeback directorial venture to be made next year.

Till then, the movie buffs will have to content with their cameos in ‘Kal Kisne Dekha’.

Kat's hot quotient

Mumbai: Now we know why Katrina Kaif is so hot, and literally.

A close friend of the actress reveals, "Katrina has shot in the most extreme weather conditions with temperatures as hot as a burning furnace. But never once has she complained about it."

Giving an example the friend adds, "It was burning hot at the time she was shooting for a Singh is King song in Egypt. The entire cast and crew were perspiring profusely except for Katrina. She looked absolutely chilled. In fact the hot weather only added to her energies as she went about doing her work calmly. The entire crew stood surprised."

Actually, it is the cold weather that doesn't work for Kat. "While shooting for Ajay Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani in Ooty, Katrina had wrapped herself in layers of blankets. It made quite a funny sight where unit members including Ranbir began teasing her saying that shawls and sweaters would make the best gift for Katrina on any occasion."

I hope success doesn't change Imran: Sanjay Dutt

Actor Sanjay Dutt speaks out on his forthcoming release Kidnap, his equation with co-star Imran Khan and his thoughts on playing a father again. Excerpts from an interview:

What attracted you to Kidnap?

The moment Sanjay (Gadhvi) narrated the first line of the film, I knew I had to do it. It's something I haven't done in all these years. There was a sense of identification with the character - a father who deeply and immensely cares for his daughter and will go to any extent for her safety and happiness.

What was Sanjay Gadhvi like as a director?

He's tremendous. Sanjay (Gadhvi) is very focused and he knows what he wants. He is very clear in his vision and has the knack of getting the best out his actors.

Did it help that he was the maker of the Dhoom series?

To be honest I had not seen Dhoom 1 or Dhoom 2, except their promos when he approached me. I believed in the subject and in him and decided to do it.

Tell us more about Kidnap?

My producers, director and co-actors went through a lot of anxiety during the shoot of Kidnap because of my trial. But all's well that ends well. I am happy the film is complete, ready and looking good. It is my first release in 2008. I play a father to Sonia (Minissha Lamba) who is kidnapped by Kabir (Imran Khan). It's an edge-of-the-seat thriller, which everyone is bound to enjoy. It has some great action and emotion and has been well written and directed. I hope my audience goes out and watches it.

Was it difficult playing a father?

No, why should it be? I have played father to Hrithik Roshan earlier.

Also see: All about Kidnap: Videos, pictures & the latest buzz | Images: Minissha Lamba at sea

You mentioned at the press conference that Kidnap is very close to you, as you identify very closely with the character of Vikrant Raina!

I could relate to the father in the film. I love my daughter Trishala immensely and during the making of this film I kept thinking about what I would do or how I would react if Trishala ever got kidnapped. There was a lot of real-life emotion that came into my character in the film.

Who will Kidnap appeal to?

I think the beauty of Kidnap lies in the fact that besides being an engaging thriller cum drama it concurrently captures the softer emotions and relationships - father-daughter, husband-wife, girl-boy. It's a thriller with a heart, and on the whole, an entertaining commercial product, which will appeal to everyone. Also, it has Imran Khan who has become very popular after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.

How was it to work with the industry's hottest youngster, Imran Khan?

We got along well. He's a humble, conscientious and hardworking boy. He's into his craft. He'll go a long way and I hope and pray that success doesn't change him.

Anything else you can recount during the shoot of Kidnap?

I enjoyed the action. It had my adrenaline rushing. I felt a teenager again! (Smiles)

Which are your forthcoming films?

EMI, Aladdin, Blue and Munnabhai 3. I am starting my own production house next year and hope to make good films.

What do you cherish the most in life?

The fact that I was born to great parents and have a great set of fans, friends and well-wishers.

What do you regret the most?

The days when I was into drugs and my time in jail. But that was destiny.....

Saif Ali Khan in trouble after tiff

Patiala: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan tonight found himself in trouble after a tiff with photo journalists here during the shoot of a film, leading to the registration of a case against him by the police on charges of threatening to kill and assault.

Some photo journalists were trying to click photographs of Saif at the railway station where the shooting of an unnamed picture was on. The two photo journalists one belonging to a newspaper and the other to local TV news channel were trying to take shots of the shooting of the movie when Saif objected to this.

The security staff of Saif allegedly reacted and took away the cameras of the photo journalists. The actor lodged a complaint against them with the railway police station of Patiala. Several mediapersons assembled on the Mall Road tonight and demanded action against Saif.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is town for for a function, sent his political colleagues Prem Singh Chandumajra of Shiromani Akali Dal and Raj Khurana of BJP to pacify the journalists. The journalists later withdrew their protest. Later, both the journalists lodged a complaint against Saif and his security guards on the charge of manhandling them.

Railway police registered a case against Saif under sections 506 (threatening to kill), 341 (assaulting), 536 (cause of damage) of IPC, said IG, GRP, G S Grewal. Investigations were on in connection with the complaint of the photographers, police said.

Scarlett Johansson marries Ryan Reynolds

London: Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has married actor Ryan Reynolds in a quiet wedding ceremony in Canada.

The 23-year-old actress tied the knot Saturday at a remote resort outside Vancouver, British Columbia, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Wedding guests included Johansson's mother Melanie Sloan and her brother Adrian Johansson, her representative confirmed.

The couple began dating in the spring of last year shortly after Reynolds split from then fiancée, singer Alanis Morissette, and announced their engagement May 5 this year.

Johansson has earlier dated actors Josh Hartnett and Jared Leto.

Bollywood titans to clash this festive season

New Delhi: Tinsel-town denizens have been dishing out entertainment both on and off screen for the last three quarters of year 2008, but the heavy-weights who have been saving the best for the traditional festive season include Salman Khan starrer "Yuvraj", Aamir Khan's "Ghajini" and Abhishek Bachchan's "Dostana".

October has an impressive, heavy-duty line up of films that have approximately Rs.50 crore riding on each one of them. Starting Friday with release of Abhishek-Priyanka Chopra's "Drona" and the current favourite Imran Khan starrer "Kidnap", the months ahead will witness films from the biggest stars of Bollywood.

Other biggies lined up for release are - Akshay Kumar's "Chandni Chowk to China", Salman's "Yuvraj", Aamir's "Ghajini", Abhishek's "Dostana" and "Delhi 6" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi".

It has been a sunshine year so far with many small and medium budget films hitting the bull’s eye even though there were some major disappointments from big production houses.

The slew of low cost films that left a mark both on connoisseurs of good cinema as well as box office include “Mithya”, “Jannat”, “Aamir”, “Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na”, “Phoonk”, “Rock On!”, “A Wednesday” and even the very unexpected “1920”.

The year started on a slow mode with the half yearly report card for Bollywood showing only four films in the list of hits. In the first quarter of 2008, it was “Race” and “Jodhaa Akbar”, while in the second quarter it was “Jannat” which sent cash registers ringing. “Sarkar Raj” was also slightly above average performer in some select circuits.

A major contributing factor, besides bad marketing and content, was that April-May months were dominated by the Indian Premier League which knocked the wind out of all other forms of recreation including the small-screen tsarina Ekta Kapoor’s soap-operas.

According to trade observer Amod Mehra, the soaring prices of multiplex tickets are also to blame for the very high loss ratio.

“People are not willing to shell out big bucks for films that they are not sure will be ‘paisa vasool’,” he said.

The audience became even more cautions when much-hyped film like Yash Raj Films’ “Tashan” bit the dust. For this reason perhaps other films that had strong star presence like Amitabh Bachchan’s “Bhootnath” could not entice audiences to part with their hard-earned money.

While it is a given that box-office collections are not the only venue for filmmakers and distributors to make up for their investment, it continues to be a good barometer for intrinsic quality of the film.

It took Akshay, Katrina Kaif starrer “Singh is Kinng” to bring back audiences to cinema halls. The tale of a good-hearted bumbling Sikh reaffirmed faith of filmmakers in the comedy genre as most of comic capers released this year had failed at the turnstiles.

That it was followed up quickly with the well-packaged Yash Raj Film’s Ranvir Kapoor’s “Bachna Ae Haseeno” helped the cause further and also came as a face saver for the industrious production house.

The good run that started with “Singh is Kinng” is continuing even now with films like “1920” that had evoked little or no expectations managing to stay afloat.

Let's see which other films will turn into blockbusters in the festive season.

'll be linked to my dad next!

Riya Sen is confused.

She has no clue why she is always being talked about her link-ups, especially as she says, they don’t exist. “Why me?” she asks in a tired voice, fed up of answering questions about her various affairs.

Well, she would be, considering her past few link-ups have been with Salman Rushdie, director Paritosh Painter and more recently, a fashion personality Khalid. “From Salman Rushdie to my director... I’ll be linked to my dad next!” she exclaims with disgust!

But can be there be smoke without fire? “How come there’s so much smoke?” she questions, “There’s absolutely no truth to all these link-ups. If there’s any name taken along with mine, then it’s because that person is a friend or an acquaintance. If I’m seeing somebody, then I won’t be ashamed about it. But I won’t stop going out with my friends just because of these rumours. I’ve become immune to these things,” she says. But the actress does admit, they used to rattle her up earlier. “But now, even my parents tease me about my various link-ups,” she laughs. So what’s the official word on her relationship status? “I’m officially single,” she says firmly.

On the work front, things seem bright for the Bong babe, who will soon be seen doing a sister-act with real-life sis Raima Sen in Rituparno Ghosh’s Nauka Dubi, “But we’re not playing sisters in the film,” she reveals. Apart from that, Riya’s got Paritosh Painter’s Paying Guest, Rituparno’s Abohoman, Heroes and Taare Sitaare.

And is she doing Dev Anand’s Chargesheet, as reported by some parts of the media? “I haven’t signed the film yet. Yes, I have been asked by him, I’d love to do it if I have dates,” she says diplomatically. She does realise that she’s doing a lot of comedies. “Comedies are sure shot hit with the audience,” she adds.

Eagle Eye' soars to No. 1 at box office with $29 mn

LOS ANGELES: Shia LaBeouf's conspiracy thriller "Eagle Eye" debuted at the top of the weekend box office with $29.2 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

The Paramount-DreamWorks release was the second No. 1 premiere for LaBeouf and director D.J. Caruso, who also teamed on 2007's hit "Disturbia."

Opening in second place with $13.6 million was another reunion, the Warner Bros. romantic drama "Nights in Rodanthe" featuring "The Cotton Club" and "Unfaithful" co-stars Richard Gere and Diane Lane.

The previous weekend's top flick, Sony's thriller "Lakeview Terrace," slipped to No. 3 with $7 million, raising its 10-day total to $25.7 million.

The Samuel Goldwyn release "Fireproof," a Christian drama starring Kirk Cameron as a firefighter who turns to God to help save his marriage, premiered in fourth-place with $6.5 million.

"Eagle Eye" helped pull Hollywood out of the box-office doldrums that have lingered the last two months. The top 12 movies took in $87.8 million, up 15 percent from the same weekend last year.

"You put a summer-style movie in the heart of the fall, and you can take advantage of the marketplace," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers.

Spike Lee's World War II drama "Miracle at St. Anna" opened weakly with $3.5 million, coming in at No. 9. The Disney release features Derek Luke in a saga of four soldiers from an all-black unit stuck behind enemy lines in Italy.

Two other movies — Fox Searchlight's "Choke" and Lionsgate's "The Lucky Ones" — opened in narrower release of about 400 theaters each, compared to 3,510 cinemas for "Eagle Eye."

"Choke," starring Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston in a quirky tale of a sex addict who feigns choking in restaurants to get money for his mom's psychiatric care, opened outside the top 10 with $1.3 million.

"The Lucky Ones," a road trip tale among three Iraq War veterans (Tim Robbins, Michael Pena and Rachel McAdams), bombed with just $208,000.

"Eagle Eye" stars LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan as strangers hurled together in an escalating series of politically motivated adventures, their lives controlled by a mysterious female voice directing their actions through technology.

"The conceit of the film is intriguing to all," said DreamWorks spokesman Chip Sullivan. "Between GPS, employee codes, bank PIN numbers, this could conceivably be within the realm of possibility within a few years."

The movie secures LaBeouf's position as a steady box-office draw. His other credits include "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and "Transformers," along with the latter's upcoming sequel.

"Nights in Rodanthe" features Gere and Lane as strangers who fall for each other over a weekend at a secluded inn as a hurricane approaches.

The romance made for good counterprogramming to the action-oriented "Eagle Eye," said Warner Bros. general sales manager Jeff Goldstein. Female movie-goers made up three-fourths of the audience for "Nights in Rodanthe," he said.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

1. "Eagle Eye," $29.2 million.

2. "Nights in Rodanthe," $13.6 million.

3. "Lakeview Terrace," $7 million.

4. "Fireproof," $6.5 million.

5. "Burn After Reading," $6.2 million.

6. "Igor," $5.5 million.

7. "Righteous Kill," $3.803 million.

8. "My Best Friend's Girl," $3.8 million.

9. "Miracle at St. Anna," $3.5 million.

10. "Tyler Perry's the Family That Preys," $3.2 million.

Aamir Khan sees scope for improvement in 'Ghajini'

The hard-to-please superstar of Bollywood is reportedly unhappy with the way his upcoming film Ghajini (Hindi) has shaped up.

Aamir Khan is at it again. The movie for which he all but shaved his head has not met his expectations. ‘Ghajini’, directed by A Murugadoss, is complete and the director reportedly held a special screening of the film recently for Aamir.

If the buzz is to be believed, after watching the movie Aamir wasn’t very thrilled. His scrutinizing eyes singled out scenes which he believed needed to be re-shot. Respecting Aamir’s judgment, Murugadoss has reportedly decided to re-shoot some scenes.

The only problem is that Aamir is presently shooting Raju Hirani’s film 3 Idiots in which he has a different hairstyle than that of ‘Ghajini’. So Aamir won’t be able to reshoot for ‘Ghajini’ until he wraps up ‘3 Idiots’, which means at least a month.

Aamir is a star whose opinion is respected by peers in the industry. Recently, director Sanjay Gadhvi showed Aamir his movie Kidnap to get his opinion. Aamir gave thumbs-up to the film.

Though some industrywalas think Aamir crosses his line at times and interferes in a director’s work, most of the people who work with him (with the exception of a few with whom Aamir has had fallout) welcome suggestions or comments by the star. And after showing his prowess behind the camera in Taare Zameen Par , Aamir has only gained more respect in tinsel town.

We’re sure Murugadoss won’t mind re-shooting the said scenes if Aamir wishes it so. For Aamir is not just a director’s actor, he is an actor who is a terrific director as well.

Akki-Priyanka OR Akki-Katrina?

Those who have been badly missing Akki–Priyanka's rocking onscreen chemistry there is good news for them. As the chances are quite bright, that the duo might pair up once again.

As per the latest hearsay from the B–town, ace filmmaker Priyadarshan who is once again directing his favourite stars Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty and Paresh Rawal in a film is planning to cast Priyanka Chopra opposite Akshay Kumar. This venture of Priyadarshan, to be produced by Ratan Jain of Venus, as usual will be a complete out 'n' out comedy, but whether a sequel to HERA PHERI series, is still undeclared.

Priyanka and Akshay have worked in many hit films like AITRAAZ , ANDAAZ , MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI and WAQT – A RACE AGAINST TIME . However, the two began avoiding working together after rumours of their romance started in the media.

With Priyanka stepping out, Akshay quickly moved on to Katrina Kaif and started delivering even bigger successes with her like NAMASTEY LONDON, WELCOME, SINGH IS KINNG And the former hit jodi (Akki–Priyanka) disappeared from the scene

However, Akki's career bloomed well with either of the lady but it is quite difficult to vouch for, which of the two pairs sizzle on screen as both have equal charm to attract eye balls.

Well, whom would you vouch for Akshay–Priyanka OR Akshay–Katrina!!!

Kareena's rocking birthday

Would Saif be able to make it to ring in Kareena's birthday? Speculation was rife that Saif was mostly likely be unable to make it for the special day because he and Kareena were committed to their respective projects. Worst, Kareena was shooting at a remote location (Leh) that was way beyond reach. But guess love overcomes all obstacles and a determined Saif did usher in Kareena's birthday in Kargil.

A close friend of Kareena revealed, ''Direct flights to Leh on that day were cancelled because of bad weather. So Saif flew from New Delhi to Srinagar. He then drove down from Srinagar to Kargil for seven hours at a stretch. Kareena, who was shooting at a remote location, drove down to Kargil too. Bebo always wanted to go to Kargil to meet the jawans so along with Saifm she went ahead to Kargil to celebrate her birthday with the soldiers there. Bebo was so happy when she reached there. She was really ecstatic. ''

Saif and Kareena even met all the jawans personally. The friend further added, ''The jawans were touched by Saif and Kareena's humbleness. They just couldn't believe that despite being stars Saif and Kareena could be so down to earth. Of course they couldn't stop raving about Kareena's looks. They were tongue tied in the presence of the actress!''

Obviously its been a rocking birthday for Bebo this year!

Geeta Basra rages at Bhajji link

This is one rumour that will knock your bails out - and actress Geeta Basra is fuming!

Following a couple of attempts by a section of media to link her up with cricketer Harbhajan Singh, a leading tabloid yesterday went to the extent of 'creating' news around both, which according to Geeta, was truly malicious.

"How could this journalist write something like this - 'Geeta spotted entering Harbhajan's room in a hotel'? Didn't she see other people around me? Did she peek into the room to see what these individuals were doing?

You can be naughty but certainly not cheesy! And if you ask me, this is downright cheap", says Geeta.

Wasn't she informed about such an article coming out?

"I was and that surprises me even more", the actress adds.

"When she called me to know the truth behind me seen entering Bhajji's room, I told her that he was a friend and we do meet on a number of occasions. Also, I asked her to check out the entire group of friends that I was with along with my family members too. But, the worst part is that she conveniently ignored everyone else who were in that room.

She also chose to ignore whatever I had quoted on the records. You can't be making stories spicy at the cost of other person's reputation and image."

Talking about the chat that she had immediately after the incident, Geeta admits that Bhajji wanted her to chill without worrying too much about the write-up.

"He said that such things just come and go and it hardly matters to people who are close to you and understand you. Though he was relaxed about it, I can't get something like this over my mind."

"I may come from UK and be forward thinking but this doesn't mean that my upbringing and attitude should be taken an advantage of. If I had a boyfriend, I won't hide him in a closet. But such below the belt maligning doesn't fly at all", Geeta adds.

She adds on a parting note.

"Just because you have a pen and a paper in your hands doesn't mean you can go round writing whatever you wish. That's irresponsible on the part of this journalist. And I am not blaming the media here since it isn't as if everyone has suddenly planned to gang up against me. However, when one or two individuals like these threaten to take things too far, I am bound to react."

Jim Carrey's worst fear: no Jenny McCarthy

London:Comic actor Jim Carrey says he feared his relationship with Jenny McCarthy was over when she stayed away from him to take care of her autistic son Evan.

According to contactmusic.com, Carrey didn't know that McCarthy was facing problems while trying to balance her relationship with him and taking care of her son. And when she "disappeared", he feared the worst.

He said: "She kind of disappeared from my life for a little while and she called me up and said, 'Here's the deal'."

They managed to work out their problems and now they can't imagine their lives without each other.

McCarthy said: "Jim also really helped me release some emotion that I was carrying. At first, he kept saying, 'You look really angry'."

Carrey added: "I call it a nervous breakthrough... I think people have ways of hiding their emotions; people think their emotions are ugly. But when she finally broke down... I don't think she had ever done that in her entire life. Her therapist said there was anger there because she felt guilty for giving her son autism... To feel that guilt is the beginning of a healing process."

Kangana Ranaut finds an actress for her beau

Squabbles and arguments notwithstanding, there seems to be no love lost between Kangana Ranaut and her boyfriend Adhyayan .

Kangana’s beau has apparently been subjected to some embarrassment of late because no actress seems willing to work opposite him in Mukesh Bhatt’s upcoming production Jashan .

According to reports, the likes of Sonal Chauhan , Prachi Desai and Shriya Saran have turned down the offer to do the film with Adhyayan, who, as we all know, is trying to start his career afresh after a disastrous debut in Haal-e-Dil .

Unable to see her man being humiliated like this, Kangana reportedly got into action herself and found a leading lady for the film that hopes to revive Adhyayan’s career.

And the girl is Anjana Sukhani , who was seen opposite Anil Kapoor in Salaam-e-Ishq and played Ayesha Takia ’s friend in Sunday .

The industry buzz is that Kangana recommended Anjana’s name to the Bhatts with whom she enjoys a good rapport (having worked twice with Vishesh Films) and perhaps some clout as well.

‘Jashan’ will be directed by the Raksha and Hasnain duo who previously directed The Train and The Killer . Both the films were copies of Hollywood flicks.

We hope ‘Jashan’ would be different.

Spears comeback hits a bump

London:Pop singer Britney Spears, who is working on a comeback, is encountering a small problem with release of her new song "Womaniser".

A source said: "The label held the song back to make it as good as possible."

Her single will be out Nov 24 and the album a week later.

Ajay Devgan's close shave with death while shooting in Thailand

Bollywood star Ajay Devgan escaped death while giving an action shot for a film near an island in Thailand - the weather suddenly changed and the chopper moving over him nearly lost control. He escaped unscathed, despite the helicopter blades whizzing inches from him.

He says he was shooting with other actors near Phi Phi Island. The action director Jack Gill had planned out a stunt in which the jet-ski chase was suppose to be shot from a chopper.

"Initially, as we started filming and moving around in the shallow waters, the waves were moderate. So we decided to move ahead in the deeper waters since the scene required a proper aerial view which should look like a chase from a top angle," Ajay wrote on his blog www.ajaydevgan.net.

He was shooting with four other stuntmen. "They were moving aggressively in the sea trying to give their best shots by manoeuvring with their cuts around me. The chopper was also hovering right above us and as close as possible to us to get better shots," he added.

According to Ajay, all seemed to go well until they realised they were nearing another smaller rocky island called Maya Bay. "Suddenly the weather started to change. The wind and the waves were trying to show us their stunts and our guys instantly thought of retreat.

"A sudden gust of strong wind hit me and next moment the chopper above us lost control and blades were so dangerously close to us that we could feel the strong whipping winds of our helicopter," he described.

Ajay, who featured in several action movies including his debut vehicle Phool Aur Kaante and Raju Chacha, says this incident will be etched in his mind for a long time.
