Angelina Jolie mends rift with father Jon Voight

London: Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has ended her long rift with her actor father Jon Voight.

The pair has been estranged since 2002, when the Hollywood veteran said in a TV interview that his daughter had "severe emotional problems". She subsequently shut him out of her life and rejected his attempts at reconciliation.

But Jolie has started communicating again with the 69-year-old as she prepares to give birth to twins, reports contactmusic.com.

Jolie told Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: "We are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in the coming years."

In a separate interview, Voight confirmed the pair planned to meet over the summer. He said: "I'm sure we will, yeah."

Now Salman shows Blog ka Dum

After Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, it’s now Salman Khan who has started his own blog.

Bollywood’s own naughty-baddy Sallu has jotted down some part of his true self and expressed his love towards his parents in his independent e-zone.

The actor has written, “My mother reminisces that I wouldn't leave her finger even when I was sleeping. It anchored me in childhood. Being close to her, helped drive away the demons.

Today, I wish to tell my mother that I still hold her unseen finger. It is nearness to her alone that sees me through all the rough times. My father tells me that I was mortally afraid of crossing the road.

I would wait and wait and cross the road only when there was no traffic. Dad, I want you to know that even today, I do not cross the limits and boundaries of relationships."

Where Amitabh is using his blog to promote his upcoming film Sarkar Raj, Aamir promoting Ghajini and even spreading his tear tattering news about his accidents, it is quiet evident that following the path of his fellow actors Salman, too, is using the medium of blog to promote his much hyped reality show 10 Ka Dum.

I don't think people want a good girl

It was Sanjay Gupta's niece Neha Uberoi's 23rd birthday on Thursday. And she was getting a birthday gift no 23-year old could hope for. A startling launch in Woodstock Villa where she plays the complex role of a kidnapped lonely wife who develops a relationship with her kidnapper.

Alas debut film's producer Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt.

Obviously no one even remotely associated with Dutt's newly-launched production house showed up at the premiere on Thursday night.

Neha's father Dharam Uberoi who used to work for Gupta's White Feather and is now closely associated with Dutt stayed away from the premiere.

"There was no question of attending the premiere even if it was my daughter's big day. I've my entire life to devote to her happiness and career. Yes, I regret I couldn't be there for her. But I've moved on. I wish Mr Gupta all the best in life."

Neha confused but excited tried to put up a brave face. "I don't even want to think about these things. I just want to concentrate on my premiere night and my career. As far as Woodstock Villa is concerned I've no complaints.

I got a launch any newcomer would die for. I play a kidnapped wife in my very first film. And I'm happy for the unconventional launch.

I don't think the audience is interested in a new girl and boy holding hands and running across pristine meadows in slow motion. Not that my launch is entire unconventional.

I've four songs in Woodstock Villa. And I've my father and Mr Sanjay Dutt's expertise in the business to guide me. So no regrets at all."

Not even for the fact that her rather-attractive voice was dubbed in her debut?

"Well…that is rather unfortunate. But being dubbed is not a new experience film for me.

I've done two Telugu films where I couldn't speak my own lines. But I've dubbed for myself in my next film Hindi film EMI (which is produced by Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment) and in Soham Shah's Luck.

I leave for South Africa to shoot for Luck with Imran Khan (Aamir's nephew). So I've a lot to look forward to."

As for bringing in her 23rd birthday Neha was a good girl all the way. "I brought it in with my family and retired early because I knew I had a big long night the following day for my premiere."

Christian Dior drops Sharon Stone from Chinese advertisements

French luxury goods giant Christian Dior has dropped Hollywood actress Sharon Stone from its Chinese advertisements after she angered Beijing by suggesting that the recent killer quake was the result of bad "karma" over China's clampdown on Tibetans.

The controversial remarks made by the 50-year-old actress at the Cannes Film Festival last week caused considerable anguish and anger in China, one of the major markets for the company.

"I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else," Stone said, according to footage available on YouTube.

"And then all this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and I thought, is that karma -- when you're not nice that the bad things happen to you?" Dior removed Stone's image from its outlets at departmental stores in Beijing, according to reports in the state media.

"We don't agree with her hasty, unreflecting remarks and we deeply regret them," Dior said in a Chinese-language statement Thursday.

"Dior was one of the first international brands to enter China and has won the affection and respect of the consuming public. We absolutely do not support any remark that hurts the Chinese people's feelings.

"We express our sorrow over the compatriots who lost their lives in the earthquake in Wenchuan, Sichuan, and we extend our sympathy and condolences to the people in the disaster area," Dior said.

Stone has also apologised for her comments and said she would like to take part in the relief work of the devastating earthquake, which has killed nearly 70,000 people.

Devgan to relaunch Tanisha

Jiju Ajay Devgan has taken upon himself to revive sis-in-law, Tanisha’s sagging filmi career.

Devgan is all set to launch three films – and the third one, which is currently being scripted, will relaunch Tanisha. The lady has been lying low since her debacle called Neal N Nikki .

“The film is in the scripting stage and things are not yet confirmed. The cast will be officially announced only after the script is ready,” said Ajay’s spokesperson. Let’s see if the Devgan touch can help Tanisha deliver a hit.

Moonmoon’s become a travel freak

She became famous as Sampada in Kasautii Zindagi Kay but Moonmoon has not been seen on the small screen for a very long time now.

Apparently, the actress had been on a long break but is looking forward to doing some good roles now. Moonmoon has been travelling to Bangkok, Mauritius and various other places on her seven-month long break. Well, maybe if not acting, then Moonmoon seems fully equipped to host a travel show!

Drona’s release postponed

For all those awaiting the release of Abhishek Bachchan’s much talked about Drona, here’s news. The movie’s release has been postponed to a faraway date.

Says Goldie Behl, Drona’s director, “I am trying some thing new in India with Drona and I and hope it is well received by all... Well, the latest on the film is that it will not be released on August 15 as originally planned, but on October 2. This is because I am still working on the VFX and need some time to make it as good as I can.” Take your time, Goldie. We want to see only the best.

Bhatt speaks up for Sonal

Mahesh Bhatt says he’s quite disturbed because of what happened to Sonal Chauhaan, the actress who is the Bhatt camp’s latest find.

Sonal, who is embroiled in a controversy after her ex-boyfriend Sahil Zaroo slapped her at the Mumbai airport, has met Girija Vyas and lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Women. Bhatt, who has been in constant touch with Sonal, advised her to speak to Girija and lodge a formal complaint.

When Bhatt was in the capital recently, he said, “Sonal has met Girija. I was with her just before she left for the airport to board a flight to Hyderabad. She is handling the situation with dignity and she also understands that this kind of treatment is outrageous. Her silence has been misconstrued too and I don’t want that to happen.”

Bhatt added that they wouldn’t take any action secretively. “Whatever action we take is going to be under the public gaze – we’re not going to do anything behind people’s backs,” he said.

And true to his word, Bhatt updated, “Sonal met Rakesh Maria, joint commissioner of police (crime), Mumbai, and asked him to talk sense into Zaroo.”

Celina Jaitly: Sean’s next heroine!

Celina Jaitly claims her date diary is full these days... and we are not even talking Bollywood!

The actress’ Hollywood career is going great, or so she says! The actress is working on several films. While her first international film, Love Has No Language, is complete, she is now looking forward to her next – The Quest of Sheherzade.

Talking about Love Has No Language opposite Ben Mitchell, she says, “The film was supposed to be released by the end of this year but its makers have delayed its release because they want it to debut at Cannes next year. This is going to be my first time at the Cannes Film Festival and the thought has me very excited. However, I don’t want to think about it currently. My professional life couldn’t get better – it is work all the way!”

And that’s not all which has her excited. Sean Connery is being rumoured to act with her in her next, The Quest of Sheherzade, which will begin in January. “The shooting for the flick will begin in January. It is a story set in Persia and hence it will be shot in the Middle East.” And what is her take on Sean? “He may have been signed for one of the roles and another actor needs to be finalised still. I’m kicked about working with Sean in the film. He is the ultimate Bond and he happens to be my favourite James Bond as well. I’m just looking forward to January now!” she answers.

And there is another “secret personal project” in the offing. “Whenever I get a day or two off, I go to Goa to see how my new house. I’ve bought a 120-year-old Portuguese villa in Goa and it is under renovation now. Goa is going to be the place where I’ll retreat for my breaks. This is my secret personal project,” she says with a smile. And what about love? “Oh, yes. The only thing that is missing from my life now is love. And trust me, I’m looking forward to fall in love”.

Fighting the flab

When all the actors in Bollywood are politically correct, Ayesha Takia definitely stands apart from the crowd. When we ask her about the rumours doing the rounds about her impending marriage with long-time boyfriend Farhaan Azmi, she is in no mood to refute it.

“I know people ask me several questions on my marriage. I will definitely talk about my marriage. But that will happen when I am getting married and that’s definitely not now,” she says.

Besides the rumours about her recently flying down to the US for a liposuction, it is undeniable that Ayesha is looking quite hot in her slim avatar. Ask her and she says that she had knocked off the fat on the treadmill.
“I worked out a lot and lost weight,” she quips. We gather that Ayesha has lost nine kilos, so is she aiming to be a size zero Kareena Kapoor?

“I am not here to compete with anybody. I don’t even know what size-zero is. I have lost nine kilos which was required and I am not in a mood to lose any more weight,” she asserts.

Ayesha will be walking the ramp at IIFA awards this year. “I quite liked the clothes that I will be wearing at the show. But, I get very scared when it comes to walking the ramp in front of so many people. I am not a model, I will try to be myself on the ramp and I am sure there won’t be any goof up,” she giggles.
Ayesha is happy that her forthcoming film De Taali, where she plays a typical girl-next-door, is on the verge of release.

“It’s a movie about friendship where I play one of the most important characters. There’s also Aftab Shivdasani and Ritesh Deshmukh in the cast. We are promoting the movie at IIFA too which is a global platform,” she ends.

The business woman
Ayesha is also getting into hotel business with her boyfriend Farhaan Azmi. It would be a boutique hotel in Goa and it’s a joint venture for both.

“It would be an exclusive hotel. We are converting an old Portuguese bungalow. I don’t have much knowledge about it, but Farhaan is in the industry for a long time and he is working out things. Being entrepreneur is a new step in my life, and I am excited about it,” Ayesha says

SRK in a musical

After romancing the western audiences with the Broadway style musical Miss Bollywood starring Shilpa Shetty, the Morani Brothers (Cineyug) are ushering in the first Bollywood musical titled City of Dreams in India with Ashish Gidwani Productions. The musical will premiere on June 13 in Mumbai.

For the project, budgeted above a crore, big names from tinseltown including Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan have been roped in.

Co-producer and director Mohammad Morani says, “We’ve been in the industry for 25 years. We’ve taken musical tours abroad. Now, we want to introduce this genre in India.”

According to Nasreen aka Lucky Morani (wife of Mohammed Morani), who is playing the female protagonist; the storyline revolves around the struggles that a small-town aspirant goes through before establishing a foothold in Bollywood. She says, “It is a marriage of theatre and Bollywood. The storyline has
Bollywood as the backdrop. We are weaving it with the best of dance-drama.”

The stars will be acting as narrators. Though they will not perform live, their parts will be presented as audio-visuals. Roping in SRK was easy, admits Morani. He says, “SRK is like family. The script is similar to what he went through during his teething days in Bollywood. Since SRK has a strong theatre background, he will do the starting sequence. The male protagonist in the play is loosely based on SRK and has been named King Kapoor. To represent the Kapoor dynasty we are in talks with Ranbir Kapoor.”

Nasreen also adds, “Bollywood is a world of mystery. A common man wants to know about what goes on behind the scenes. Our musical is a portrayal of that. The big budget for the musical has been primarily channeled into sets and costumes to give it a larger-than-life feel.”

Co-producer Ashwin Gidwani reveals that the musical will go abroad next year. It will tour the Gulf, Far East, Germany, UK and the US. The sets have been designed by Umang Kumar (Saawariya and Black fame).

Chunky’s comedy for girls

Chunky Pandey is keeping busy. In fact very busy. At last count, the man who made his Bollywood debut almost two decades back, has as many as nine films lined up for release in the next few months. While most of them are comedies, Chunky can’t stop grinning from ear to ear while talking about his forthcoming release Hello Darling.

“You would laugh with Hello Darling. You would see women letting their hair down. It is easily the female version of the Sangeeth Sivan laugh riot, Kya Kool Hain Hum.” So can one expect some bold humour being on the forefront in Hello Darling as well? Laughs Chunky, “Based on what I have seen, Celina Jaitley, Gul Panag and Isha Koppikar surely seem to be having fun while shooting.”

UAE calling for Sonu

UAE director Ali F Mostafa, who won the Best Emirati Filmmaker at the 4th Dubai International Film Festival last year, is currently working on a multilingual drama City of Life. The film will have Indian actor Sonu Sood playing the role of a taxi driver who wants to become a Bollywood film star.

Mostafa, who has previously directed the critically acclaimed short film Under the Sun in 2005, will have three artists from three different countries playing lead roles in his film. They will later meet at a crucial juncture in the film.

While Sonu will play the character Basu in the film, the other two characters will be played by Ahmed Ahmed (an Egyptian American comedian) and Yassin Alsalman (known by his stage name Narcicyst or Narcy, he’s an Iraqi hip hop performer).

Sonu confirms that he is playing the role, “I found the script extremely interesting and took it up. It has a stellar cast and the technicians are some of the best in Hollywood.” He adds, “I can’t reveal much about the plot or the characters as the film is in the pre-production stage.”

But a well-placed source reveals that the plot of City of Life is based on three parallel stories, of people coming from different backgrounds and cultures. It will have a Romanian ballerina who is forced to give up dancing after an injury and has to work as an assistant hairdresser. She is jilted in love and life but is determined to succeed. The other is of course Sood, a cabbie with starry dreams. The third is a young and wealthy Arab who disguises his identity to mix with friends from the wrong side of the town. He does this to experience the dangers from which he is protected in his father’s palatial home.

Mostafa, who has made short films and mock TV ads, is expected to begin shooting in October. The film will see its characters speaking in Arabic, English and Hindi.

IPL scores with B-school

NEW DELHI: BCCI’s Indian Premier League is all set to make history, once again. School of Business Management, NMIMS, Mumbai has decided to include the event in its MBA syllabus. IPL will be offered as a case study––in one of the electives on sports marketing and finance management––in the second year of the programme.

The school plans to rope in people associated with IPL, starting with a workshop for its faculty, to design the case study. The institute feels it will help students to understand the sports market, auctions, broadcasting, sponsorship, evaluation of contract and sports industry finance.

Salman is Chopra’s lucky mascot

He is Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. So how could Ravi Chopra not include him in his film, which has the same title... We are talking about cool dude Salman Khan.

After the success of Partner , Salman Khan and Govinda will be seen together once again in a comedy film Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai . If you are amazed after reading this then lets me explain, Salman will be seen in a guest appearance for Ravi Chopra’s next.

Ravi Chopra wanted a surprise element in the movie and the first person he thought, was Salman Khan. And although Salman is juggling between his tight schedules, he immediately agreed to do a special appearance for Chopra.

Salman’s manager Vikas Kapoor has confirmed the news. “Yes Salman will be seen in Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai . The duo have been in talks since a long time. He will be soon shooting for it.”

BYBH stars Govinda, Lara Dutta, Tabu, Boman Irani in main lead roles. Ravi Chopra informs that, though Salman has very few scenes, he will be seen in very interesting role. He was shooting in Australia for Main Aur Mrs Khanna still managed to fly down to Mumbai for Chopra’s film. He reveals “Yes Salman has a guest appearance in BYBH. He is playing a lawyer. We will be shooting with Salman for two days in film city, starting today.”

It can be recalled that Salman has given successful films like Bhaghban and Babul to this banner. The film’s initial title Pappu Paas Ho Gaya but later Chopra changed it to Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai . It seems the alphabet B and actor Salman are Chopra’s lucky mascot.

Saas-bahu soaps losing out to reality TV

Primetime "saas-bahu" family soap operas are gradually losing out to meaningful infotainment on Indian television, with young viewers in particular switching allegiance to intellectually stimulating reality shows.

As advertisers pump in more money into non-fiction shows, several channels are re-launching their old reality series with new editions while others are coming up with fresh programmes.

The History Channel is back with its second instalment of History Rocks, a showcase of the lives and times of the legends of rock music, on popular demand.

The channel is also planning three new exciting series in July-August titled the "Warriors", "The Jurassic Fight Club" and the "Monster Quest."

"Warriors", says the Rajesh Sheshadri, vice-president of the marketing division of History Channel, will debut on the Friday night (9 p.m.) movie slot. It will trace the legends surrounding the greatest of warriors like Nepolean Bonaparte, Julius Ceaser, Cordelius and Richard the Lion Heart.

"Our traditional core segment is the 25-plus age-group, but now we are targeting children," Sheshadri said. The channel runs history classrooms for children on Sunday mornings.

"Non-fiction programmes are always popular. Our recent series, 'Dog Fights' on the famous battles in history was a big draw," said the marketing honcho. According to a rough estimate by Sheshadri, the channel's popularity has grown by at least 25 percent, courtesy its "extravagant" non-fiction series.

Non-fiction and informative capsules generally reach out to an evolved set, but a rise in the country's education levels and the dubbing of several popular non-fiction television series in Hindi have helped them penetrate deeper, Sheshadri said.

The number of reality shows, say industry watchers, is gradually overtaking fictional content on Indian television.

While serials like "Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" have for long captivated family audiences with their dramatic family sagas, reality shows like "MTV Roadies" and "Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain" - featuring superstar Shah Rukh Khan - are very popular today.

"Kaun Banega Crorepati", first hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, in many ways pioneered reality shows on Indian TV.

"It is easy for people to connect to the slices of reality being shown in the programmes than watching imaginary lives in soaps and family dramas, where they have to leave their brains outside. Make-belief content breeds a degree of detachment," Zubin Driver, creative network head of Network 18 Group, told IANS.

CNBC is reviving "Through the Looking Glass", its cache of short films and documentaries, and a new global focus. Anchor Tanveer Gill will host the show.

Sony Entertainment Television, on its part, is starting a new reality series, "Das Kadam" June 10. Earlier this month, the channel launched a new reality show "Naya Roop, Naya Zindagi", hosted by Mona Singh, that is giving a makeover to the lives, looks and destinies of 10 people with flawed looks and facial deformities, mostly victims of real-time tragedies.

The channel launched two interactive talent shows, "Mr & Mrs Television" and "Waar Parivar: Sangeet Ka Naya Gharana" in April.

MTV has roped in Justin Timberlake to host its new interactive game show, "The Phone", while Discovery Channel's new reality show "Factory Made"" which allows a peek into the world's most amazing factories premiered May 21.

One of the greatest triggers for the explosion of reality shows on television is revenue. Advertisers and sponsors chase eyeballs and the "non-fiction content generates maximum eyeballs," says Driver.

It accounts for the flush of advertisements for non-fiction shows, which in turn keeps the reality mill spinning.

The Indian Premiere League (IPL), arguably the greatest reality show on Indian television right now, speaks for the trend.

According to Driver, there is a new level of engagement, entertainment and information in reality and interactive television.

For instance, CNBC's redesigned bouquet of documentary films, "Through the Looking Glass", is more interactive this time. It is targeting students and has more on ground activity.

"We are encouraging first time filmmakers who are still in college to showcase their movies on our show and involving local film clubs in a two-way exchange. We will acquire movies from them for screening and give them the ones we have shown," Driver said. The channel has also lined up several competitions for children.

Priyanka’s red alert

Sporting the much-talked about futuristic, red-haired look in Love Story 2050 hasn’t been a cake walk for Priyanka Chopra.

Not only did she have to go into hiding for over 20 days so that her look wasn’t revealed, she also had to chop off her tresses as the harsh dye chemicals completely ruined her hair.

Although Priyanka was always nervous about her new look, she was keen that her look suits her character. She did consider using a red wig, but was not sure if it would look natural.

Finally, director Harry Baweja and make-up artiste Mickey Contractor came up with the idea of colouring her hair red and giving her a fringe. Everyone was taken aback when they first saw her new look. “Priyanka was zapped. In fact, we all were. Also, we all began to wonder whether it was the right thing to do. But we were glad we followed our instincts,’’ says Baweja.

But Priyanka faced a roadblock — she was required to shoot her scenes in two schedules over 25 days. As a result, she ended up colouring her hair twice, once each for both the schedules. Priyanka says, “My hair was ruined as I had to colour it twice within a few days. I had to completely bleach my black hair for the colour to set in. Later, I had no option but to cut the damaged ends.’’ The actress was nervous about how people would react to her unconventional look. A relieved Priyanka says, “Thank God people loved it!”

Sameera and Ishant Sharma?

Audience adulation is not the only common factor that binds celluloid with cricket.

Following actresses Kim Sharma and Deepika Padukone being linked with cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Sameera Reddy is the latest actress to be smitten by a young cricketing sensation. Apparently, she is dating right arm fast bowler Ishant Sharma.

Our source says, “Sameera and Ishant happened to meet during some of the IPL matches. They have hit off very well and are more than just good friends and are getting serious about each other.”

It was during the IPL matches, where Sameera was always seen cheering the Kolkata Knight Riders, that their relationship blossomed. “And not just that, Sameera will be performing at the IPL grand finale. The two have been exchanging messages and are in touch over the phone,” reveals the source.

Sameera Reddy has recently split with her earlier boyfriend, Shamshul Lalani, a Mumbai-based builder.
When asked about her relationship with Ishant, she quickly brushed aside the news. “I am not seeing Ishant Sharma,” she laughed. Well, many have reacted in a similar way.

Preeti gets tattooed

Preeti Jhangiani recently came back from an 18-city tour of the US, Canada and West Indies with Udit and Aditya Narayan and guess what she brought back?

A tattoo on her back! So was hubby Parvin Dabas surprised? “Yes, it was a surprise and Parvin was totally shocked. He didn’t think that I would ever get a tattoo, actually he thought I would never be able to go through the pain of getting one! His first reaction was ‘How much did it hurt?’,” she recalls with a laugh. But she adds that it’s been about a week now and Parvin quite likes it. “The trip was a ball and the tattoo is a bonus,” adds Preeti.

De Taali's actress Ayesha Takia on the ramp at IIFA

Ayesha Takia is now in news for her upcoming walk on the ramp for her best designer friend Vikram Phadnis at the ninth International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, starting June 6 in Bangkok.

She also would like to grab this opportunity for promoting her upcoming movie De Taali on the occasion of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards function.

"I will be there for Vikram Phadnis, who is a very close friend of mine. He has designed some exclusive collections and it will be great fun to be there for him. Besides, I am also excited for my film De Taali, said Ayesha.

"IIFA is a great platform where people from various parts of the world get to see a film. It opens the film to the whole world. I think this is an ideal platform to showcase and promote a film. I am very excited about it," she said.

Directed by Eshwar Niwas and produced by Ravi Walia, the film is about love and friendship and presents Ayesha in a different incarnation along with Aftab Shivdasani, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Rimii Sen.

Explaining her role, the actress said: "I play a tomboyish character for the first time in the film. My character is very close to Aftab and Ritiesh," Ayesha said.

The three day IIFA weekend will start with the premiere of Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar Raj. The political thriller brings together Amitabh Bachchan, who is also the brand ambassador of IIFA, his son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

Katrina’s outfit controversy in pyramid city Egypt

Just like her boyfriend Salman Khan, Katrina is also facing controversy again for her bare legs outfit.
Katrina Kaif has just returned from Egypt after shooting a song with Akshay Kumar, for the keenly awaited Singh Is Kinng.

And while Katrina is delighted with the way the song has shaped up, she is even more charmed by Egypt and its culture.

"It's among the most beautiful countries I have visited - the pyramids, the temples and the landscape are absolutely exotic. I even enjoyed the barbecue dinner on a boat on the Nile. We shot in a number of places and I've come back with fond memories of my trip."

Ask her about the song she shot, Jee Karda, she smiles, "Wait and watch. It should be on air later this month. We shot at 4am every day to capture the light and it was scorching. To keep cool we would stay in shades and sip fruit juice or mint tea."

During shooting of song in which she was shooting against the backdrop of the great pyramids along with Akki in bare legs outfit annoyed local authority.

Egypt is predominantly a Muslim nation and revealing outfits are not accepted in public places.

According to reports director Anees Bazmee, who was determined to shoot at the pyramids, managed to get the matter resolved with the help of others. And another skirt controversy was successfully skirted.

Neha Dhupia shoots for R&B Star Ginuwine's Music Video in London

The Bollywood beauty Neha Dhupia will be soon seen in an international music video of the famous American R&B (Rhythm and Blues) artiste Ginuwine. While these days, it is not very rare to hear of Bollywood actresses being invited to do international assignments, this is however a big achievement for Neha Dhupia who seems to be showing an upward trend in her career graph.

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, Jr. better known by his stage name Ginuwine, is an American R&B singer and an occasional actor. Ginuwine has been nominated thrice for the American Music Awards in the category of 'Favourite Male R&B Artiste'. With is next music video starring Neha Dhupia, Ginuwine makes a comeback after a short period of absence.

"I am super excited about the music video with Ginuwine. Getting an opportunity to feature in an international music video of a celebrated artiste like him is not an everyday story for Bollywood actresses. I feel extremely lucky to be a part of this project. Ginuwine was looking for an urban Indian face and had short listed four Indian actresses for his song 'Baby'", blushes Neha with immense humility in her tone.

Neha has finished shooting for the video, which will be released in India shortly. With this, Neha will surely become a recognized face amongst all R&B patrons across the globe

Salman Khan plays '10 Ka Dum' with David Dhawan

In a country where the public memory is short-lived, there are just two names that will always be etched in gold in the decades to come: Abhijeet Sawant and Harshwardhan Nawathe. While the former was the first ever winner of 'Indian Idol', the latter went onto win 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC), hosted by none other than Big B himself.

What seemed impossible a few years back has become a stark reality now and how! Gone are the days when the films stars were playing hard to even make an appearance on TV. It took an Amitabh Bachchan to create a revolution of the so-called 'Idiot Box' and declared to the world over that the same Idiot Box can make you a Millionaire instantly!

After the Big B, the spotlights were on SRK and now its Salman Khan and his forthcoming show '10 Ka Dum'. And going by the reports, Sallu bhai is leaving no stone unturned to make this show a smash-hit! No wonder then, he had invited David Dhawan, his close friend for one of the mock rehearsals of the show. And The Perfectionist that David is, he took his time to think but gave correct answers. When Sallu asked him as to why is he spending too much time thinking, pat came the reply, "Your show is about common people. And I am here as a common man and not as David Dhawan. Hence, I need time to think."

Man! That was some answer. News also has it that David pocketed a cool one crore! Only if this wasn't a mock-show… What say David bhai?

Sanjay Dutt and Govinda in Dil Mein Baji Guitar

Subhash Ghai has worked with many big actors in his illustrious career. He is now all set to bring together the hit pair of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt together again in his forthcoming film.

Bollywood Hungama spoke with the Showman himself to get some more details. "Yes, this project is on the proposal stages .We have signed Govinda, but have yet to confirm Sanjay's dates for this film. The film is titled Dil Mein Baji Guitar and would be directed by Hadi Ali Abrar, a new and talented director. He has got a brilliant script, full of comedy and emotions. So I liked the film."

It may be recollected that Govinda and Sanjay Dutt were earlier seen in Mukta Arts' Ek Aur Ek Gyarah, directed by David Dhawan. So we quizzed the Showman, how different is this film going to be? "This is a different script altogether. It's a new kind of film and not on the lines of other films which Govinda and Sanju have done before. Besides, they do get along very well and would be playing friends in the film too," says Mr. Ghai.

So when does the film go on floors? "We are yet to finalize the female cast. Music will be either by Pritam or Sajid-Wajid. The film should go on floors in July this year."

Meanwhile, Ghai's next magnum-opus Yuvraj is 75% complete and would release in October later this year coinciding with Mukta Arts' 30th anniversary.

As they say there is simply no stopping the Showman.

Govinda plays a virgin in Jagmohan Mundhra's nex

Govinda is all geared up to play a 40 year old virgin in an untitled venture directed by Jagmohan Mundhra. The film will be co-produced by Sanddeep Kapur and Anuj Sharma under Promodome and Sishty Creations.

Putting an end to the rumour about the film being made in English language, one of the producers Sanddeep Kapur informs, "The film loosely inspired by Hollywood comedy The 40 Year Old Virgin is a comic caper which will be made in Hindi." He goes on to add, "We will have Amrita Rao playing the hot chick of UK based Govinda who plays a 40 year old virgin."

Apart from Govinda and Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher and Shakti Kapoor will also star in the film. In fact, the cast and crew have already moved to London to shoot the first schedule. To which Sanddeep says, "We have zeroed in on London where 60% of the film will be shot and rest 40% will be in India." Monty Sharma will be doing the music for the film and Pony Verma is the choreographer.

The film is expected to release this year.

Sanjay Dutt completes dubbing for Kidnap

Director Sanjay Gadhvi's Kidnap starring Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Vidya Malvade, Minissha Lamba and Rahul Dev has been in the making for quite some time now.

However, the director of the popular Dhoom series must now be heaving a sigh of relief as the dubbing of Kidnap has been completed. All the actors, including Sanjay Dutt have finished with their dubbing and the post production of the film is going on at the moment.

In fact, this also puts rest to the rumours of Sanjay Dutt refusing to dub for the film. A tabloid went on to say that Sanjay wasn't happy with Imran Khan debuting with Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na and hence refused to dub. But with this confirmed news of the Deadly Dutt having finished dubbing for Kidnap, another rumour bites the dust.

Kidnap is being produced by Shree Ashatvinayak Cinevision Ltd.

Hrithik signed as a goodwill ambassador for NDTV Imagine's new show

Bollywood stars making their presence felt on various T.V. shows is no longer a new phenomenon. While most of the stars make fleeting appearances on reality shows around the time when their film releases, some are even seen hosting shows on T.V.

The latest superstar who would be seen on T.V. (albeit in a new avatar) is Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik has been signed on as the goodwill ambassador for Junoon… Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka, the exciting new musical show on NDTV Imagine. Celebrating the shows' cultural and artistic diversity, Hrithik will lend his support to the participants of the Sufi, Folk and Filmy genres on the show.

Announcing Hrithik's association with the show, Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content, NDTV Imagine said, "We are very excited as this is the first time that a channel has associated with a celebrity at this level. Hrithik's role is very unique - he is not a host, judge or performer. He is here to lend his support to the participants. What makes this association special is that we truly believe that he embodies the spirit of Junoon and epitomizes the passion which is present in all the talented artists that are part of the show! He symbolizes the personality of the show brilliantly!"

Even Hrithik seemed all excited on being associated with the show. The talented actor said "I am very pleased to be associated with NDTV Imagine and Junoon. I can identify with the participants and their desire to achieve success with their god-given talent. I relate to their positive and exuberant spirit because I believe that I have a similar Junoon - be it my work or my personal life."

Junoon… Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka is an exciting new musical show that will decide the country's most popular genre of music, namely Folk, Sufi and Filmy. Each team will have 6 contestants and will be mentored by an eminent personality from the music industry, namely, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for the Sufi Team, Ila Arun for the Folk Team and Anand Raj Anand for the Filmy Team.

Will Anu Malik do it for Harman Baweja?

Creating a soundtrack for a newcomer is always a challenging task. In Bollywood scenario, music has always played an intrinsic role in deciding the future of a future superstar, as can be witnessed from the list below

    Picture this:

    - Anand Milind gave Aamir Khan a series of chartbuster tracks, most notable being 'Papa Kehte Hain', in QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK

    - Nadeem Shravan came together with Shah Rukh Khan to mark his introduction with 'Koyi Na Koyi Chahiye' for DEEWANA

    - Ram Raxman created a dozen odd hit tunes (including 'Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali') for Salman Khan in MAINE PYAAR KIYA

    - Rajesh Roshan ensured he gave it all for Hrithik Roshan when he created 'Ek Pal Ka Jeena' and 'Sitaron Ki Mehfil' for KAHO NAA...PYAAR HAI

    - Anu Malik has himself done it for Shahid Kapoor (ISHQ VISHK) and Abhishek Bachchan in National Award wining score of REFUGEE

Now one looks forward to see whether Anu Malik along with Javed Akhtar have managed to do the same for Harman Baweja too!

In last few weeks, music stands have seen the arrival of quite a few albums which have Anu Malik credited as a composer.

While he has contributed along with other composers for WOODSTOCK VILLA, Anu Malik has run the show entirely for HASTEY HASTEY and ANAMIKA.

However, none of them can be termed as a true blue comeback for the man who once upon a time used to deliver countless chartbuster songs. His last big album was UMRAO JAAN but it bit the dust.

Now with LOVE STORY 2050 looking at hitting the screens, one can finally see Anu Malik indeed making a big comeback. Well, we are waiting!

With Priyanka Chopra in lead and Boman Irani playing a principal character in the LOVE STORY 2050, this Harry Baweja directed sci-fi film has a lot riding on it since it is for the first time ever that a genre like this at such a huge scale has been attempted in India.

Supposed to have been made on the budget of over Rs. 50 crore, LOVE STORY 2050, which has taken almost 3 years to reach the finishing line, has now been confirmed for it's 4th July arrival, the same day when Imraan Khan makes his debut in Abbas Tyrewala's JAANE TU YA JAANE NAA. - Joginder Tuteja

Darsheel Safary has some unexpected competition

It looks like Darsheel Safary of Taare Zameen Par has unexpected competition coming up this year. Just when the dust was settling down on Darsheel's stardom comes another scenestealer Aman Siddiqui in Vivek Sharma's Bhootnath.

The Big B who has worked with some of most brilliant child actors in recent times describes Aman as "cute and a natural scenestealer".

But wait. There's more. Purav Bhandare who plays a traumatized child in Santosh Sivan's third Hindi film earlier titled Dastaan now called Tahaan, is being hailed by his seasoned co-star Anupam Kher as an extraordinary talent.

"The boy is just 7, and he puts veterans to shame. He had to shoot in freezing Kashmir. And he plays the title role of Tahaan, a traumatized child and has to perform some of the toughest scenes possible.

The boy didn't flinch even once. He just sauntered on to the camera and director Santosh Sivan and asked if he has to cry and begins doing a big dramatic scene in seconds.

I've not seen anything like this! And to think Purav has no actors in his family. His father is a dentist, " gushes Anupam who's currently working with another extremely talented child actor Gargi in Hawaii Dada.

With Swini Khare matching strides with Amitabh Bachchan in Cheeni Kum, Dwij Yadav in Nanhe Jaisalmer giving Bobby Deol a run for his money and Darsheel Safary taking the lead over Aamir Khan in Taare Zameen Par, we seem to have entered an era of outstanding child prodigies in Bollywood.

Santosh Sivan is known to bring extraordinarily gifted child actors to the scree. He had worked wonders with Sooraj Balajee (remember the heir apparent whom Shah Rukh and Kareena protected?) in Asoka and the little girl Benaf Dadachanji in Halo.

Says Anupam, "The thing about Santosh Sivan is that he lets the kid intepret the character instinctively and guides him from the outside.

Shekhar Kapoor had done the same with Jugal Hansraj in Masoom many years go. More recently Sanjay Bhansali got it right with Ayesha Kapoor in Black and Aamir Khan with Darsheel in Taare Zameen Par."

How does Anupam who works regularly with disabled children, explain the resurgence of phenomenal child actors in recent times?

"Today's average child's emotional intelligence is high. Darsheel may not have known the life of a dyslexic kid. But he could imagine it and interpret it."

Madonna gets full adoption of Malawi boy

Pop star Madonna and her husband, British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, were granted the right to permanently adopt David Banda by a court in Malawi.

"All I can say is that the adoption has been given. Madonna can go ahead and adopt the child," the couple's lawyer, Allan Chinula, said following the ruling by the High Court in Malawi's capital Lilongwe.

The couple obtained custody of David, then 13 months, in October 2006 under an 18-month interim adoption order.

The court ordered that they will be allowed to firm up the adoption after receiving a favourable report from the Ministry of Women & Child Development on their care for the infant at their London home over the past 19 months.

The government had bypassed its own laws banning adoptions by non-residents in granting the couple custody of David, who was given up for adoption by his father on the death of his mother. Two Malawian rights groups had opposed the government's breach of procedure but have since withdrawn their objections.

Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz expecting baby

Newlyweds Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz say they are expecting a baby.

"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," read a statement Wednesday on Wentz's blog. "This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."

Simpson-Wentz, 23, and Fall Out Boy bassist Wentz, 28, exchanged vows earlier this month at Simpson's parents' Los Angeles-area home. Sister Jessica was the maid of honor.

The newlywed pop singer will go by Ashlee Wentz in private and professionally as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, according to a report posted Wednesday on People.com.

The couple began dating in fall 2006 and announced their engagement April 9.

Simpson-Wentz's latest album, "Bittersweet World," was released last month. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in its first week, and tracks have logged more than 19 million plays on her MySpace page.

A representative for Simpson-Wentz did not immediately return a call Wednesday seeking comment.

    Christian Bale's lies blur fact-fiction

Batman star Christian Bale lies so much in his interviews that he is no longer sure if he is telling the truth anymore.

The reclusive actor refuses to answer questions about his life away from the movies and so he often makes things up to avoid difficult interviews, contactmusic.com reports. He said, "I am an actor, I'm not a politician. I always kick myself when I talk too much about family or personal things."

Bale claims he does it unconsciously. "Clearly it's absolutely ridiculous, and even disrespectful, to suggest that I understand what that is. And it deserves a very hard smack across the face for any actor to ever suggest that they understand. But the power of delusion is incredibly strong,” said Bale.

Kamal Amrohi's grandson makes his debut

Mashoor Kamal Amrohi will join the list of new faces, who will make their debuts in the Hindi film industry this year. The grandson of noted filmmaker and writer Kamal Amrohi, who made classics like Mahal and Pakeezah, is ready with his film, Hum Sey Hain Jahan.

What makes Mashoor different from the other newcomers in town is that he is an actor, director, writer and choreographer of his first film. The 26-year-old spoke to Patcy N about his filmi dreams and his famous grandfather.

I was 19 when I joined Sohail Khan [Images] on the film, Maine Dil Tujko Diya, as the fifth assistant director. I was a terrible because I wasn't dependable at all. It was probably because I had led a very sheltered life. I depended on my mother for everything.

When I entered the world of entertainment, I saw its politics. There was a lot of manipulation going on; something that I soon got acquainted with. I became very disillusioned, and after a couple of months, I stopped working without even informing anyone.

It was David Dhawan, who changed all that. I joined him when he was shooting for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. I was 21 then. My perception about filmmaking changed after joining him. I started understanding and loving films. This was because with David Dhawan, there was no hierarchy. Everyone is a part of the direction team and everyone's opinion is welcome. That's why he has given 38 superhits.

He is my idol. The way he explains a scene and the way he handles difficult situations is superb. Even when he is dealing with the top actors of the industry, he doesn't lose his cool. I imbibed every little thing from him -- from conceptualising a shot to executing it.

After the film was over, I had time on my hands. Very soon, I got bored. I spent time watching television and movies, and gained weight. My friends would discuss films with me. I liked the idea behind a certain film, and decided to write a script. That's how Hum Sey Hain Jahan was made.

I will not lie. My script is an inspiration. It is not an original idea. It is a straight copy of five films.

Hum Sey Hain Jahan is a romantic comedy with thrills, mystery and action. It is a masala movie. I changed the original title, Hum Lakh Chuppaye Pyaar Magar, because it was difficult to pronounce. The film is about of a guy, who is neither good nor bad. But he prefers shortcuts.

After the script was ready, I didn't want to give it to anyone else because I had visualised it while writing. I thought another director would not do justice to it. That's how I came to be the film's actor, scriptwriter, screenplay writer, dialogue writer as well as director. I have even choreographed three songs.

My heroine in the film is Vishaka Sen. She is an extremely talented newcomer, who had auditioned for Chak De! India. However, that didn't materialised. She came into the picture after [choreographer] Vaibhavi Merchant called up the casting directors of Yash Raj Films, as a favour.

Though I had met her for just five days prior to the shooting, she bowled me over with her talent. She is very patient and dedicated. During a shoot in Singapore, she broke her toenail. It was 2 am and there wasn't any doctor around. But she continued shooting. Another time, she shot with high fever.

The most expensive part of shooting were the underwater shots in Singapore. Lighting the place up was chaotic and tedious.

Then, there is a scene in the film where my friend runs over a child and I am supposed to save the child's life. However, I failed to reach the child in time and my friend actually hit the child. His ankle was hurt and his mother was livid with me. I could have been sued but nothing of that sort happened.

I am not scared of being compared to my grandfather, Kamal Amrohi. His style, sense and genre of filmmaking is completely different from mine. He was more knowledgeable and well read than me. He made classics but I prefer entertainers.

His favourite films were Sagar and Ben Hur. The whole family, including our relatives, would watch them with him when they came to visit.

As for future projects, I haven't signed anything yet. Director Mohit Suri and I had some plans but we had to shelve that project because my film's release was shifted from April to June. But we will work together someday.

I haven't made a bad film. I would not release my movie the same day, June 6, with Sarkar Raj, if it was bad.

Rooney requests Westlife to perform at wedding

Wayne Rooney, the football star of Manchester United, is tying the knot with Coleen McLoughlin next month and has requested the Irish band Westlife to perform at his wedding.

The couple have decided to marry at a former 14th century monastery on the Italian Riviera on June 14, when the music band takes a break from touring.

Thesun.co.uk reports that the 22-year-old star was eager to have the band at least perform at the wedding after they couldn't make it for his 21st birthday. "Some of Wayne's team mates gave him a bit of stick but he knows how much Coleen loves them," said a source.

Mere Baap Pehle Aap music is lousy

And now for some more comedy, Priyadarshan [Images] style.

The prolific filmmaker calls on his favourites -- Paresh Rawal [Images] and Akshaye Khanna [Images] -- to create some more Hungama and Hulchul in Mere Baap Pehle Aap. The amusingly titled caper also stars Shobana [Images], Om Puri [Images] and Genelia D'Souza.

Unlike Priyan's previous fun-loving outings, which boasted of catchy ditties, the soundtrack of Mere Baap Pehle Aap by Vidyasagar, is nothing to write home about.

As in most cases, this too opens with the title track. Here, Sangeet Haldipur's coaxes daddy cool with a touch of hip-hop, bhangra and rap, to walk the altar in this mostly situational and mundane ditty. The song tries too hard to be cool and competent at once and fails on both counts.

Evidently, the music of Priyadarshan's films are still reeling under Pritam's hangover -- the composer was at helm of the director's previous flicks like Garam Masala [Images], Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which probably explains the glaring similarity between MBPA's Ishq subhanallah and Garam Masala's titular chartbuster. Though the combined vocal efforts of Alisha Chinai, Neeraj Sridhar and rapper Bob are most commendable, lack of originality ruins this one. DJ Amyth's remixed avatar of Ishq is a racier, techno-overload concoction and doesn't do anything for its patient listener.

Husky charmer Sunidhi Chauhan [Images] gets into provocative mode to do justice to the equally fiery Shamma Shamma. Its bullying, thumping, dhinchak beats coupled with bawdy lyrics are deliberately in-your-face and decidedly off-putting.

Anything after this would seem like a welcome relief. And so Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghosal's breezy rendition of the honey-glazed pop-flavoured love song, Maine hawa ke paron mein is just that. In another mellowed-down version of the same, Shaan replaces Udit Narayan to blend in his brand of sweetness and does a good job of it.

A fraction of its opening strain is reminiscent of A R Rahman's poignant theme for Mani Ratnam's Bombay and later evokes memories of Zubeidaa's [Images] Mehendi hai rachnewali (by Rahman again). Clearly, Rahman looms large over to produce average results in the Alka Yagnik and Shaan-rendered Jaana hai tujhko, a typical wedding number.

Alternately lacklustre and lousy, Mere Baap Pehle Aap is not the kind of album which will find itself on anyone's recommendation list.
