John Abraham dubs for animated Alibaba

Bollywood hunk John Abraham has lent his voice to the central character in an animation film on ‘Alibaba and 40 Thieves’.

The film, based on the famous episode from ‘Arabian Nights’, is being made by Soumitra Ranade, who made the famous children’s film ‘Jajantaram Mamantaram’. To dub for the central character of Alibaba, Ranade wanted an actor with a soft, humble voice. He found that in John’s.

Ranade first approached John last year to dub for his film. The actor reportedly promised the director that he would lend his voice to Alibaba whenever asked to do so.

And now that the film is in dubbing stages, John took a week’s time off from his other movie commitments, solely to dub for Alibaba.

John did not just come to the studios and dubbed and left. He discussed the character of Alibaba deeply with Ranade and did many rehearsals before doing the final dubbing.

Ranade says he cannot think of any other actor whose voice would have suited Alibaba more than John’s.

John has been busy shooting for Karan Johar ’s production Dostana . His next release would be Aashayein in which he plays a compulsive gambler.
