SGPC yet to give clean chit to 'Singh Is Kinng

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) is yet to give a clean chit to Vipul Amrutlal Shah 's film Singh Is Kinng in which Akshay Kumar sports a trimmed beard that led to protest from the Sikh community.

SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar that Akshay with a trimmed beard in his the film may encourage young Sikh fans to emulate him.
Another thing which has angered the Sikhs is a line of Gurbani recited wrongly. It was a grammatical error and the producer has been asked to re-dub it.

"We suggested that it would have been better if he had sported a full-grown beard," said Makkar.

"We have advised the producer (Vipul Shah) to change the script, which portrays Akshay as a 'Patit Sikh' (a Sikh with trimmed beard), who later wants to rejoin the mainstream of Sikhs."

He said that the producer has assured Sikhs in Mumbai on stamp paper that he will re-shoot the objectionable portions.

"The producer will re-shoot those (objectionable) portions and after the post-production the film will be ready by July 12. After
reviewing it, the Sikhs and two members from SGPC will give the clean chit," added Makkar.

Sikh leader Gurbachan Singh Bachan (ex-secretary of SGPC) and his colleagues saw the film and gave us a clean chit.
