Singh is King is about positive attitude, Akshay

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar today said that his forthcoming film "Singh is King", which has drawn the ire of Sikhs, is about positive attitude.

Addressing a press conference here, Akshay who specially flew down from South Africa to re-shoot certain portions of the film scheduled for August 8 release, said his character's look in the film has been changed.

"I play a Sikh in the film. There had been some lapses like wrong rendition of Gurbani and my look. Some portions were deleted and one additional dialogue where my character seeks forgiveness if he has committed any mistake has been incorporated. The changes will benefit our film, " he said.

Akshay said the film was shown to prominent Sikh personalities in Mumbai, including Dr Gurbachan Singh Bachan from the University of Mumbai who was previously with the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC).

The actor said "I am a Punjabi Hindu and I may not know all customs, traditions and rituals associated with my religion and community. Here, we were making a film on another community. Hence, the producer Vipul Shah and director Anees Bazmi decided to show the film to the community members before release. They suggested some changes and we have incorporated them."

Producer Vipul Shah said when the shooting was taking place in Gold coast, Australia, some Sikh community members visited the sets and pointed to discrepancies in what is being portrayed.

"We told them that the entire film cannot be re-shot but we promised to show the film to the community members before its release and according to their advice the changes were incorporated,"he added.
