THE FILM

What a pity!

A couple of smile worthy moments (and we are not even talking about full throated laughter here) is all that you find in Krazzy 4. And that too happens because you get so tired of seeing a boring narrative unfold in front of you that anything that comes with the faintest of humor quotient makes you search for something redeeming. In fact, the makers did just the right thing (for them but definitely not the audience) to have centered their promotion on these handful of funny liners while camouflaging them entirely with the three item numbers.

They got far greater than what the film deserved and we, the audience, got the crown of being 'Krazzy Folks' to have watched the film!

Krazzy 4 doesn't even try to tell a story. Juhi Chawla, a doctor who believes that mental patients can be treated better with 'pyaar, moh-mamta, apnapan etc. etc.' (yaaawn) disappears from the frame much before you would have finished a micro packet of the 'kurkure' that she endorses! Four men-in-arms - Arshad, Irrfan, Rajpal and Suresh - who are her patients start searching for her and get to the culprit rather fast and it seems that the film would end in 60 minutes flat.

But nahi, hum to Bollywood movie bana rahe hain! So we will now have some uninspired chase sequences, some deshbhakti element thrown in, some boring humor being sold in the name of jokes, have some clichéd drama of 'tum to aise na tha' brand and in the end blame the entire world for putting these four men into a situation that's responsible for them turning crazy!

That's not all as a climax speech follows too, which only makes the entire film turn out to be such a stupid affair that one wonders how could Rakesh Roshan even approve such a lousy script? Same holds good for the at least 2 out of the 4 actors (I are talking about Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan, who today hold the liberty of refusing a filmmaker) who gave their nod to the project. Well, they may be good in their act but then Krazzy 4 is hardly a platform where they could, as the cliché goes, rise above the script!

There are some films which are good but loose out at the box office due to uninspiring promotion, lack of buzz, wrong timing or sheer bad luck. And then there are some movies which are terrible, have a shoddy plotline, do not come with any sense or purpose, don't even try to entertain and still manage to do well at the box office.

As you would have guessed by now, Krazzy 4 belongs to the latter category!

CONCLUSION

It is hard to believe that a film like Krazzy 4 could actually turn out to be a decent grosser at the box office. And one is pained to realize that the reason for this was, simply put, presence of three item numbers (one each on SRK, Hrithik and Rakhi) which managed to pull in crowds. Period. In addition, comedy season has been on now for quite some time now and coupled with the prestigious banner of the maker Rakesh Roshan, audience were indeed made a fool (or shall we say crazy/krazy) so that they could step into watching Krazzy 4!
